Move out of the way, for the performer of Rambley & Pals is here! Lloydford L. Lion, the regal lion of the mane stage, is decked in the finest made suits that make royalty look like mere commoners. Lloyd struts across the stage with an air of arrogance that could rival any monarch. He's friends with the main cast, but he's really starting to push it...
~ Lloyd's description on his character card

Lloydford L. Lion, better known as just Lloyd the Lion, is a major character in Indigo Park, serving as the secondary antagonist of Chapter 1: Birds of a Feather. Once a family-friendly mascot of the park, he turned feral with the rest of the cast after being abandoned with the rest of the park for nearly a decade.

He is voiced by Tom Hart Jr., more commonly known online as RecD.

Appearance[]

Lloyd is a large, bipedal lion with light orange fur and light blue eyes. His mane and tail tip are orange with reddish-orange stripes, and his muzzle, stomach, fingers and toes are all cream-colored, with matching cream-colored rings around his eyes. His nose, inner ears, whisker spots, tongue and paw pads are all light blue, and his has a strand of reddish-orange hair poking out of his mane right above his forehead. He wears a gray vest with light blue sleeves and gray cuffs, as well as a light blue shirt underneath, and a bowtie of the same color.

Lloyd's monster form is that of a giant quadruped with no clothing, as well as black eyes with slit white pupils and a brown mane and tail tip with no stripes. His tongue is red, the cream fur on his paws and around his eyes is absent, and his inner ears are light orange. He has long white claws, and he's covered in blood, especially on his front paws.

Biography[]

Past[]

Prior to its closure, Lloyd was one of the main mascots of Indigo Park, being a pompous actor and the titular star of Lloyd's Main Stage Theater. He is notably one of the only two cast members the park's main mascot Rambley the Raccoon actively hates (alongside Salem the Skunk), the raccoon consistently reacting to anything about him with annoyance, disgust and exasperation. At some point the park replaced all its human costume wearers with living versions of the characters created by unknown means.

Chapter 1: Birds of a Feather[]

During the game itself, the player is able to find a plush of Lloyd right next to the gates at the park's entrance. The description of the plush has the player note that the park used Lloyd a lot less ever since they were a kid before its closing, and that he was one of their favorites. While riding Rambley's Railway, Lloyd's section is visited last, where Rambley greets him unenthusiastically. Lloyd tells him to call him Lloydford L. Lion instead of just Lloyd, stating that he's a prestigious actor. Rambley flatly "praises" him for his act as the train leaves, with Lloyd claiming to be the real star of the park, his words fading out as the train departs.

Shortly after the player goes into Llyod's Theater to gain access to Jetstream Junction though a security office in the back of the theater. Once entering, they find Lloyd's monster form sleeping on the stage, with him waking up and running off into the backstage once they approach. Going into the backstage area, they see him watching them from behind some boxes, running off once he's spotted. Soon after he tries to lunge for them, but is crushed by a falling box and backs away. After grabbing the key from the office and trying to leave the backstage, Lloyd pounces on the player. However, their Critter Cuff gives off a high-pitched frequency that causes him to writhe on the floor before running off once more, not being seen again for the rest of the chapter.

Much later, after entering the employees-only Rambley Ranger area, the player can find yet another plush of Lloyd, this one being black-and white in the style of 1920s rubberhose cartoons. The description for it has the player state they've always found it weird when companies make merchandise that's supposed to look old, and notes that Lloyd's design in vintage cartoons looked different. When showing the plush to Rambley, he wonders why the park only ever gave Lloyd a rubberhose-styled limited edition plush, angrily asking why the rest of the cast don't have any.

As of Chapter 1's 1.1 update, a series of ciphers can be found throughout the game, each corresponding to a code that can be inputted into a terminal found in the game's online store. Entering "MORAMOO" showcases the corridor where Mollie Macaw was killed, her body missing as blood trails backwards. "RILLRY" shows that the trail continues through Lloyd's Mane Stage, and "YEILM" shows Lloyd in a cage, blood coating the floor. While it's unclear what exactly happened, but there's a possibility that Lloyd took Mollie's corpse back to his cage to eat.

Quotes[]

Rambley: *sigh* Hey there, Lloyd...
Lloyd: Do not SHAME me with that COMMON FOLK name! I am the PRRRRROUD, the PRRRRESTIGIOUS, the PRRRRRRROFFESIONAL Lloydford L. Lion, Actor Extrrrrrrrodinaire!
Rambley: Great act, Lloyd...
Lloyd: Of course it was! I'm the rrrrrreal star [around here!]
~ Lloyd and Rambley during the former's section of Rambley's Railroad. Text in brackets is from the full audio clip, but not normally heard.[1]
I feel like as a kid, Indigo used Lloyd a lot more. He was always one of my favorites.
~ The description of Lloyd's plush.
Ew, Lloyd...
~ Rambley about Lloyd when shown his plush.
I always find it weird when companies make merch that's supposed to look old. Lloyd obviously had an older look in the classic Indigo cartoons, but I'm not sure it looked like this. I guess nostalgia sells...
~ The description of Lloyd's retro plush.
Ugh... I don't get why we even have those. And why did they only make one of LLOYD? Is it because he's the loudest? I CAN BE LOUD TOO! WHERE'S MY LIMITED-EDITION THROWBACK PLUSH?! WHERE'S MOLLIE'S? WHERE'S FINLEY'S? Give this mistake to a child and they'll cry.
~ Rambley about the retro Lloyd plush.

Trivia[]

  • A portrait of Lloyd and Rambley can be seen at the start of Rambley's Railroad, the two smiling and shaking hands while the former hands the latter a paper, suggesting the two were on friendlier terms at some point in the past.
  • When Indigo Park's creator UniqueGeese was asked about Lloyd during a stream prior to the character's reveal, he pretended to not know what the asker was talking about and asked if they made up a lion character.
  • Monster Lloyd's design shown in concept art was notably different, having a paler fur, a reptilian nose, shorter claws, and a second, smaller pair of eyes above his normal ones.
  • While not explicitly confirmed, there are hints that Lloyd might be the original mascot of Indigo Park, having a giant golden statue backstage and being the only character to have a throwback plush. Conversely, the image of Lloyd handing a piece of paper to Rambley may be the park's in-universe explanation as to why Lloyd was phased out.
