Loki is a supporting antagonist in the Megami Tensei series. For notable appearances, he is the main antagonist of Digital Devil Story: Reincarnation of the Goddess.

Personality[]

Digital Devil Story: Reincarnation of the Goddess[]

At first glance, Loki is a demon who is willing to help humans for a fair price, but he gradually turns out to be far more evil than his summoner Akemi Nakajima. While he simply wanted revenge on his bullies (though he was willing to let another person die in the process), Loki himself intended to wreak havoc on Tokyo once he found a way to enter the city.

Biography[]

Digital Devil Story: Reincarnation of the Goddess[]

Akemi Nakajima, a high school student seeking revenge on a boy and a girl who bullied him, decides to use the demon summoning program he invented to summon a demon, with this demon being Loki. He agrees to the deal of killing the bullies, though he also decides to alter the deal so that a teacher dies in the process.

Afterwards, he demands human women as compensation, resulting in him impregnating Akemi's teacher Ohara despite the limitations given to him by the demon summoning program. Nakajma goes along with procuring human sacrifices at first, but Loki decides to betray Akemi when he refuses to deliver Yumiko to him. Eventually, he finds a way to enter the human world by preying on the affections of Ohara, where he violates and kills Yumiko. Once he enters the human world, he proceeds to devour countless innocents. Firmly done with Loki's vile ways, Akemi uses another demon, Cerberus, to fight against Loki before he flees to Asuka.

However, Akemi's journey to revive Yumiko isn't without issue, as Loki follows them into the tomb to stop Akemi from attacking him with other demons. Killing the tomb's guardian, Yomotsu-Shikome, Loki tries once again to defeat the heroes, but Akemi is able to revive Yumiko (as her true form, Izanami) and kill Loki using Hi-no-Kagutsuchi. However, Loki's sexual deviance would later cause the creation of Seth.
