Loki, alternatively known as Mr. Dudley is the overarching antagonist of the point and click adventure games trilogy Weird Park. Trapped in a jester doll, Loki turned the clown Louis into his minion.
Loki only speaks in Weird Park: The Final Show, where he is voiced by John Mondelli
History[]
Prior to the series[]
As shown in The Final Show's bonus chapter, Loki first appeared in the town of Fairy Gate over 80 years ago during the magician David Wood's performance, disguised as a human. Wood made a crack about Loki being small, only to attack the show, sealing the magician inside. Loki gave Wood the challenge to say his name, only to be killed when Loki pushed him down a flight of stairs, causing him to break his neck. For the next year, Loki tormented the theater for fun.
A year later, a new magician, controlled by the player, attempted to rent the theater. Loki gives the player 24 hours to say his name. After several puzzles are solved, the player finds Wood's notebook, revealing that Loki is looking for an assortment of manuscripts hidden in the theater, and a papyrus with strange symbols on it. The manuscripts also reveal a device to trap Loki. Building the device and assembling the papyrus will allow the player to seal Loki into a vinyl record.
The record is bought by amateur clown Louis Gauche decades later at a pawn shop. Using it, Louis attempted to perform a high-wire act at Fairy Gate Park Circus using the record, while riding a unicycle and juggling. The audience hated Louis' act so much, they began to throw garbage. One such piece was a banana peel, which landed on the tight rope, right in Louis's way. Louis would roll onto the peel and fall to his death. The record holding Loki also shattered, freeing the deity, but turning him into a jester doll. Freed, Loki resurrected Louis as a vengeful ghost and the two began to terrorize Fairy Gate Park, where it was closed for two years.
Broken Tune[]
During the first game in the trilogy, the player takes control of a reporter looking to her coworker's disappearance looking into Fairy Gate Park. Loki appears throughout the game, either as a hinderance or help, depending on the situation. The player can find a newspaper clipping revealing that after Louis's death, the police found evidence supporting that Louis was a kidnapper. Other clippings reveal that the former owner of the park, Greedy Greg, didn't think too highly of Louis's performances, which implies Louis's spirt was after revenge. As the game continues, the player can find a note, revealing that reassembling the record will trap both Loki and Louis into it. The player eventually finds John, tied to a chair. After freeing him, John gives the player a VHS tape Loki tried to destroy. The tape reveals footage of Loki painting over some symbols which can be used against him. Going deeper into the park, the player finds a twisted magical variation of the park, where Louis has turned several people into dolls, including Greg. The player eventually finds Louis, where he reveals he hated the mistreatment he was given at their hands. However, the player then reveals the completed record, sealing Louis away for the moment. His defeat reverses the damage, freeing the captives.
Scary Tales[]
The sequel has the player controlling a random driver. Here, Louis has inexplicably escaped and now haunts his former home. With Loki's help, the two kidnap the souls of children, taking them to a twisted theme park modelled after classic fairy tales such as Peter Pan and Cinderella. One of the children, begging for help, turns to the player, which almost causes an accident. Traversing through Louis's house and park, Loki, primarily referred to as Mr. Dudley, continues to act as a hindrance, but now occasionally loses his eyeball. Loki eventually kidnaps the player, locking them in the dungeon. However, the player escapes, and tosses Loki into a cage. The player defeats Louis by tossing the primary key to the park into the furnace, destroying Louis' park and freeing the kids.
The Final Tune[]
Loki and Louis return in the final game, where Loki takes a more proactive approach. Upon learning that someone has bought Fairy Gate Park with the intent of revitalizing it, the duo began stealing toys from the local kids to turn into an army which to destroy the park in another dimension, one modeled after the original park. During one theft, a young boy named Patrick followed Loki into his dimension. Instead of being frightened by Louis, Patrick befriended him, causing the clown to see the error of his ways. Loki however was furious at this and sought to punish Louis. Loki put a curse on Patrick, which would cause the two to switch body types with the help of an enchanted roundabout tower ride. The longer the tower spun, the more Loki would return to his previous form, while Patrick would become a wooden toy. As punishment for his disloyalty, Loki locked Louis in the dungeon. The player, controlling a detective, would investigate Patrick's disappearance, only to wind up in Loki's world. Loki would try more actively to rid his dimension of the player, even locking them in the same dungeon as Louis. Freeing Louis, he tells the player of what had happened over the years, and was openly remorseful of what he had done. The two work together and are able to free Patrick. Loki, however, was infuriated at this and attacked. Louis was able to lock Loki in the roundabout, where the player is able to reverse the roundabout's direction, reversing the spell he placed on Patrick and banishing Loki for good. After recreating his last performance, Louis is grateful to both the player and Patrick, where he passes on to the afterlife in peace.
