Lololo and Lalala are recurring antagonists in the Kirby franchise. They are a pair of near-identical blobs that often assist King Dedede in fighting Kirby.

Appearance[]

Both Lololo and Lalala appear as round creatures with white arms and legs. Lololo is colored blue while Lalala is colored pink and wears a yellow bowtie.

In their "revenge" forms in Kirby Super Star Ultra and Kirby Blowout Blast, Lololo is colored purple and Lalala colored orange and wears a pink bowtie.

Biography[]

Kirby's Dream Land[]

In Kirby's Dream Land, Lololo and Lalala appear as the bosses of Castle Lololo, the second stage Kirby ventures through. Partway through the world, Lololo appears to personally confront Kirby, both pushing and kicking blocks towards the hero in an attempt to stop them. Despite this method of attack, Kirby is able to pick up the boxes himself, with them being used as projectiles against the blue blob. After being hit thrice with his own ammunition, Lololo is defeated. In the game's Extra Mode, Lololo's choice of weaponry alternates between ordinary blocks and Gordos, the latter of which are to be avoided at all costs.

At the end of the level, Lololo returns alongside his sweetheart, formally making their debut as a tag team boss. In their boss fight (alongside others after it), Lololo and Lalala may appear out of any of the eight doors split between four platforms, pushing blocks in front of them in an attempt to crush Kirby. To defeat them, Kirby must use the middle of each platform to move between them, inhale the blocks being pushed towards them, and fire it at the duo's vulnerable backside. Both Lololo and Lalala can take three hits before being defeated, with a total of six being needed to win the encounter. In the game's Extra Mode, Lololo and Lalala move at an increased speed.

Lololo and Lalala later return at Castle Dedede in the game's boss rush, acting identical to how they behaved in their first encounter.

Kirby's Avalanche[]

Lololo and Lalala appear in Kirby's Avalanche as the ninth opponent Kirby faces, replacing Panotty from the original Puyo Puyo game. In battle, their main strategy involves quickly connecting sets of blobs to overwhelm the player.

Kirby Super Star/Kirby Super Star Ultra[]

As with Kirby's Dream Land, Lololo and Lalala appear as the second boss of "Spring Breeze", being fought on the Float Islands stage. In their boss fight, their behavior is identical to how it is in their first appearance, albeit with the two being slower and weaker (needing only two hits each to defeat) as a trade-off for a smaller arena (with only three floors to attack on) and being sometimes able to push Gordos forward.

In the Kirby Super Star Ultra-only mode "Revenge of the King", Lololo and Lalala appear with enhanced abilities, now being significantly faster and with their arena regaining its missing fourth floor. If the player defeats the deadly duo in three hits, they receive 50600 points.

Lololo and Lalala also appear in "The Arena" and "Meta Knightmare Ultra", albeit unchanged from their original appearance.

Kirby Mass Attack[]

While not appearing in the main game itself, Lololo and Lalala cameo as the second bosses of the sub-game "Kirby Brawlball". In their encounter, the two appear out of trapdoors to push their blocks forward, while a Blocky appears to guard against shots directed towards them. During the fight, the player must avoid both the boss and the holes they appear from, striking the pink boxes protecting the two before hitting them as usual.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[]

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Lololo and Lalala appear on one of the game's collectable keychains.

Kirby Fighters series[]

Lololo and Lalala appear as stage hazards within the Kirby Fighters series, appearing on the stage based on Castle Lololo.

Kirby's Blowout Blast[]

Lololo and Lalala make their return as traditional bosses in the spin-off game Kirby's Blowout Blast, with Lololo both fighting Kirby alone and alongside Lalala. Compared to their previous appearances, Lololo and Lalala share the same health bar, with the two pushing their blocks forward at a quicker pace once it is halfway depleted. In their EX form, the two leave trails of fire as they move, and sometimes appear pushing Shotzos resting on star blocks.

Kirby: Right Back at Ya![]

In the anime Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Lololo and Lalala appear as major protagonists, taking a firm seat as two of Kirby's closest allies. Here, they are depicted as being the two halves of a being known as Lola.

Trivia[]

  • Lololo and Lalala are heavily based on Lolo and Lala, the main protagonists of the Eggerland series, another video game series produced by HAL.
