Londra's Devotees is the main antagonistic faction of the 2023 DLC Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

They are an offshoot of the Quen tribe, specifically the members of the Quen expeditionary team that were stranded in Burning Shores (post-apocalyptic Los Angeles). Walter Londra, the last Far Zenith, used his godlike influence to brainwash the lost Quen through the Mutiny Suppression Protocol into joining him to his cult under the promise of The Ascension. In reality, Londra only wants to handpick specific members of his cult to mold them into his 21st-Century retinue, while leaving the rest at the mercy of Nemesis.

History[]

Creation[]

While half of the Quen expeditionary force managed to arrive in Isle of Spires (post-apocalyptic San Francisco), the tribe's intended destination, the other half led by Gerrit were stranded in Burning Shores after a storm split them apart. As a consequence, many of Gerrit's expeditioners started disappearing across the abandoned city, including Seyka's sister Kina, as well as other Quen members including Zeth, Fedder, Pirik and Peera.

Walter Londra, who escaped the battle of the Far Zenith base, arrived in the Burning Shores and managed to create a following by brainwashing the scattered Quen into his own cult. By giving them the false promise of the "Ascension", Londra managed to create a cult entirely dedicated to him, with the newfound devotees worshipping him as his "God". The Devotees are totally unaware of his true intentions as Londra himself has been secretly taking out their DNA samples through their nail clippings to create subservient, obedient clones of the Quen tribals in his own colony.

The Devotees would then be settled inside Heaven's Rest, Londra's personal bunker located in the Hollywood mountains, who would be overseeing the creation of a rocket ship in his goals to escape Nemesis. Zeth was assigned as Londra's right-hand man who would guard the bunker, while Fedder was assigned in Pangea Park to guard the candidates for his "audition".

Kina and Peera would be part of Londra's audition process to act as a replacement for his late wife Evelyn.

Events of Burning Shores[]

Seyka, who has been looking for her sister Kina, would eventually meet Aloy and brief her about the missing Quen and save them from Londra. The Quen Devotees stationed inside Heaven's Rest would become suspicious of Aloy and Seyka's presence inside the bunker, before they were alerted when the duo reached the rocket, causing Zeth and his Devotees to deal with the two. Despite their numbers, Aloy and Seyka managed to dispatch Zeth's troops and Aloy squared off with Zeth before he too was defeated by her. After the battle, Aloy retrieves his Specter Gauntlet, as well as information regarding the Devotees and Kina in Pangea Park. The result of the battle caused the brainwashed devotees including Otosu to be shocked at what truly happened.

Aloy, with Otosu and Valea's help, would then deal with Pirik, another of Londra's lieutenants who is fanatically devoted to him, in hopes of finding the former's friend Lan who was held captive by him. Aloy dispatches the Specter and Pirik himself, before freeing Lan and the prisoners at the tower.

In Pangea Park, Fedder would then order the Devotees to escort the candidates out including Kina and Peera. Their operations would subsequently be waylaid in the abandoned park by Aloy and Seyka, before the duo of outcasts managed to free Kina from Londra's machinations in the main area of the park. However, Peera was subsequently killed by an Apex Slaughterspine. The success of the mission would spell doom to the Devotees and Londra himself.

After Londra's defeat at the hands of Aloy and Seyka, the Devotees that were rescued returned back to Fleet's End, still in shock over Londra's deceptions. Kina would also share the same sentiments as to how she was fooled into believing him, while Aloy simply reassured her that it was not her fault.

Aftermath[]

Despite Londra's defeat, pockets of Devotees are still present across Burning Shores. Three such encampments are located across the ruined city, of which Aloy eventually waylaying them one by one. Aloy deals with all three of the camps, thereby putting an end to the Devotees' terror across the Burning Shores, as well as saving the whole Quen from Londra's control.
