Imbecile. What hope do you think you have here? How do you think this is going to end? We are Viltrumite. We are Legion. We will break your entire species over this planet's scalding corpse!
~ Sports Invincible threatening Tech Jacket.
Long-Haired: You sure took your time there.
Sport: I was preoccupied. Besides, I don't see why he was giving you such a hard time. You should be embarrassed for all of our fellow Viltrumites across all dimensions.
~ Long-Haired and Sport's banter after jumping Tech Jacket.

The Long-Haired and Sport variants of Invincible are the main antagonists of the first issue of the Image Comics limited comic series Tech Jacket Digital, as well as minor antagonists in Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name.

They are a pair of Alternate Mark Graysons who had teamed up to destroy Earth's outer-spaces defensive and communication satellites during the Invincible War orchestrated by Angstrom Levy, leading to the two encountering and battling Tech Jacket. As a result of Tech Jacket's existence being extremely rare across the multiverse, the duo underestimates his true power, leading to their violent deaths.

In the animated series, they are voiced by Steven Yeun, who also voiced all the other Alternate Mark Graysons and portrayed A. Traveler in The Twilight Zone, Ricky "Jupe" Park in Nope and Danny Cho in Beef.

Biography[]

Background[]

Little elaboration is given on their origins and fall into villainy, though one can assume that their upbringing was similar to the mainstream Mark's until Omni-Man revealed his true loyalties to Viltrum.

Sport Invincible in specific is shown to have a conceited personality, a more formal and drone-like speech patterns, as well as being incredibly vocal about the Viltrum Empire's superiority, presumably meaning that he was indoctrinated by his father very early on in his life. His makeshift suit is, in words of his designer Ryan Ottley, meant to imply that he never met his universe's Art Rosenbaum and thus didn't get a proper superhero suit. He also claims to have murdered many Geldarians and to be familiar enough with their technology to recognize it immediately, possibly implying that he was an active agent of the Viltrum Empire in space missions.

In contrast with his partner, Long-Haired Invincible wasn't even aware of the existence of the Geldarians and is over-all implied to be a newer recruit to the Viltrum Empire and closer in history and personality to the Mainstream Mark.

Sometime later down their life, the two of them were approached by Angstrom Levy, who offered them the deal of invading the mainstream universe to ruin the reputation of their mainstream counterpart in exchange to expand their empire's dominion across dimensions. The two accepted and eventually met in Angstrom's headquarters.

Dialogue between the two suggests that they were already partnered before the initial outbreak of the Invincible War, which could imply that they were assigned to destroy any outer-space threats, either by Angstrom or by themselves.

Invincible War[]

Both Invincibles were among the initial wave of 17 Alternate Mark Graysons that stormed the mainstream Invincible Universe on the first day of the invasion led by Sinister Mark. It is implied that Sport Invincible split off from Long-Haired Invincible, presumably to cover more ground or to handle a personal vendetta on Earth. Meanwhile, the Long-Haired Mark had encountered Tech Jacket, who immediately defended himself with a laser beam. Long-Haired, initially confused as Tech Jacket didn't exist in his home dimension, began to attack him while presumably calling the Sport Invincible for back-up.

After exchanging blows, Long-Haired Mark decides to take the battle down to Earth, crushing Tech Jacket and dealing devastating damage to his armor. Sport Invincible finally arrived to aid his counterpart and began the two began to viciously attack Tech Jacket while he was still on the ground. Sports Mark mocked his counterpart, questioning how he could have been struggling against someone like Tech Jacket, to which Long-Haired Mark attempts to justify himself by revealing that there is no Tech Jacket in his home dimension and therefore couldn't measure how big of a threat he was. Sports Invincible then begins explaining that while there isn't a Tech Jacket in his dimension, he recognizes the technology of his armor as being of Geldarian origin and acknowledges that the potential of a human donning their armor could be catastrophic, but ultimately brushes it off.

The duo's gruesome end.

Before Sports Mark could finish explaining, Tech Jacket suddenly wakes up and takes them for surprise, though he is quickly subdued by them once again. Tech Jacket recognizes that, in his current condition, he isn't strong enough to beat them to death nor fast enough to use his lasers, though he was recently thinking of a "new strategy" with the suit. Tech Jacket orders his suit to override all fail-safe protocols and to route all the power to its battery to overload the system. And, before the duo could react, they received the full blast of Tech Jacket's suicide explosion and were reduced to mere ash and skeletons.

Trivia[]

Probably TracksuitMark
  • In the original Invincible War issue, Sport Mark, alive and well, appears fighting Witchblade in the second day of the event. This is inconsistent with what's shown in the Tech Jacket Digital comic, where he dies alongside Long-Haired Mark in day one of the invasion.
  • In the Invincible animated series, their role as the ones to fight Tech Jacket is given to the Moustached Mark, while they died off-screen. Likewise, their role as the battling duo is given to Veil Mark and Omni-Mark.
  • As the rest of the Alternate Marks, they serve major overarching antagonistic roles during the Invincible War: Aftermath arc, as they decommissioned Tech Jacket for months, which didn't allow him to aid the Mainstream Mark in his fight against Conquest.
