Lord Eggman is a reoccurring antagonist in the Sonic Boom television series. He is an alternate-reality version of Dr. Eggman who rules over Hedgehog Village.

He was portrayed by Mike Pollock in English and by Kotaro Nakamura in Japanese. Both also voiced the prime dimension version of Dr. Eggman, his video game counterpart, as well as Mirror Dimension Eggman.

Appearance[]

Lord Eggman is very similar in appearance to his prime dimension self, sharing the same large build, goggles, and long mustache. However, his outfit has a black and red color scheme instead of a red and yellow one. His mustache is also a darker shade of brown than the original Eggman.

Biography[]

Lord Eggman hails from an alternate dimension where Sonic never existed. Without Sonic to create and lead Team Sonic, Lord Eggman was easily able to take over Hedgehog Village. With this, he was able to build up a reputation as a cruel and frightening tyrant. At some point, he had his universe's Dave the Intern imprisoned when the latter forgot to include extra pickles on his burger. He also employed this universe's Tails to be his assistant.

In the present day, Lord Eggman was riding on a throne carried by Gogobas, when he encountered the main universe Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic, believing that this was the same comical and non-threatening Eggman from his universe, started insulting Lord Eggman. This resulted in Sonic getting arrested and thrown in prison, though he would later be freed by Amy.

Later on in the episode, Sonic and the alternate versions of Amy, Sticks, and Knuckles arrived at Lord Eggman's lair. After being alerted by Tails, Lord Eggman arrived on the scene, and sent his robots to destroy the heroes. During the battle, Lord Eggman prepared to launch a missile at them and told Tails to move out of the way so that he wouldn't be in the blast radius. When Tails didn't hear him, Dr. Eggman fired the missile anyway. Realizing how little his boss cared about him, Tails joined the side of good and helped defeat Lord Eggman.

Lord Eggman appeared again in the series finale episode, "Eggman the Video Game Part 2: The End of the World". He was on the roof of his lair, plotting on how to find the prime, universe Sonic and destroy him. He was approached by the prime Dr. Eggman, who gave him a portal allowing Lord Eggman to travel to the prime dimension. Lord Eggman fought Sonic with an energy sword, however the battle was interrupted by Shadow.

Shadow was hoping to get revenge on the prime Dr, Eggman for tricking him, and had mistook Lord Eggman for the original. Lord Eggman informed Shadow that he was not the Eggman Shadow was looking for, and sent him into his own dimension, which was where the true Eggman was staying.

Lord Eggman was later kidnapped by Shadow in an attempt to cause an anomaly that would destroy the universe. Shadow's plan was foiled by Sonic, who ordered Lord Eggman to his own dimension. Lord Eggman expressed sadness about departing from his alternate self, though the main Eggman did not seem to care. Lord Eggman was pushed into the portal by Sonic and was never seen again, due to the series' cancellation.

Personality[]

Much like the original Dr. Eggman, Lord Eggman is egotistical and power-hungry. However, Lord Eggman is far more competent as he was able to successfully overthrow the village. Also unlike the original Dr. Eggman, he shows very little care towards his minions, even endangering Tails' life and showing no care for it. He is extremely petty, as he imprisons his subjects for incredibly petty reasons such as messing up his food order or insulting him. However, he is not completely devoid of positive qualities, as he was affable to his main universe self.

Trivia[]

  • The concept of Lord Eggman is similar to the Chaos Council from Sonic Prime, since both are alternate reality versions of Dr. Eggman who rule over a city.
  • Unlike the main Dr. Eggman, this Eggman is capable of hand-to-hand combat, and even held his own in a physical battle against Sonic.
  • It is unclear if Lord Eggman was still in power in "Eggman the Video Game", or if he was already overthrown by Sticks' resistance.
  • His attires colour scheme is similar to that of Shadow the Hedgehog's colour scheme, due to having the ones of black, red, white, and yellow, which the latter does have. This version of Eggman in addition, met him.
