Very Well. I'll leave my lands to the crown and my soul in the hands of the Lord. May he treat me like the piece of refuse that I am and send me to Hell where I belong.
~ Lord Graveney

Henry Graveney, better known as Lord Graveney, was a minor antagonist in the British TV series The Black Adder. His first and only appearance was in the third episode: "The Archbishop".

He was portrayed by the late Leslie Sands.

Biography[]

Not a lot is known about Lord Graveney however what is known is he killed his father and committed incest with his mother more then a thousand times. In 1487 he is dying and is being told much to his distress that if he does not leave his lands to the church that he will be sent to hell. However the Archbishop Edmund the Unwilling comes to try to change his mind about leaving his lands to the church otherwise he will be killed by the king. Edmund convinces Lord Graveney that Heaven is boring and wouldn't interest him whereas Hell is a place where he can commit as many sins as he likes. Graveney dies seconds after leaving his lands to the king.

Personality[]

On his deathbed he seems at first to be remorseful for his perverse actions, but when Edmund lied that hell isn't that bad he becomes excited at all the horrid actions he could commit for all eternity.

Trivia[]

  • According to the subtitles, his first name is Henry.
