~ Lord Sidewinder. |
Lord Sidewinder is a major antagonist in Sonic the Comic comic book series. He is a crime lord residing on Planet Meridian in the Special Zone and aspiring to rule it, and the father of Lightmare.
Biography[]
Past[]
Lord Sidewinder and his criminal gang had conducted many criminal operations, with Sidewinder always managing to avoid leaving any evidence that may incriminate him, giving him immunity even in cases when the police was sure of his involvement. His gang often had run-ins with the Chaotix team, who interfered with their plans.
Sonic the Comic[]
When Sonic's evil side, Super Sonic, separated from him and ended up in the Special Zone, he came across Lord Sidewinder, and the two struck a deal: Sidewinder would deliver the original Sonic, while Super Sonic would join his gang and help him conquer the world in return. When Sonic was held by the police for his affiliation with the Chaotix, who at that point were framed for a crime, the crime lord bailed him out and brought him into his mansion. At this point, Super Sonic went back on the deal and attempted to kill everyone present, including Sidewinder, but failed. Since then, Sidewinder tried multiple times to harness Super Sonic's power, but always failed. His last attempt ended with him and his entire gang arrested by the police.
Alternate timeline[]
When Robotnik obtained god-like powers and altered reality, he made Sidewinder ruler of the Special Zone. He feigned loyalty to the tyrant, but in truth schemed to eventually steal his powers for himself. Robotnik heard him reveal his plans to Lightmare, and turned Sidewinder's entire gang into stone as punishment for treachery. It's presumed that after Knuckles drained Robotnik of his powers, Sidewinder went back to normal and ended up back in prison.
Trivia[]
- Sidewinder seems to have a fondness for snakes, keeping many of them as pets. His very name can also refer to a type of rattlesnake (Crotalus cerastes), though it's unknown if he is a snake himself.
