Lord Zarak is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Galvatron) of the Transformers cartoon three-part episode The Rebirth. He is the corrupt leader of the planet Nebulos as well as the Hive. He is voiced by the late Stan Jones, who also voiced Scourge in the cartoon.

Biography[]

Zarak was ultimately a corrupt leader. He enslaved the planet's population. While the Hive could not control Transformers as normal machines, he used his machines to capture the Decepticons and tortured them when Scourge refused the offer. And the Decepticons allowed Zarak to proceed with the Headmaster and Targetmaster operation. Zarak later built Scorponok and captured Arcee and Daniel Witwicky and presents Galvatron with the Key of the Plasma Energy Chamber. Zarak/Scorponok battled Spike Witwicky/Fortress Maximus in the final battle and Spike successfully defeated Zarak by punching him three times which caused him to fall. Zarak and the Decepticons escaped in Scorponok and was sent hurtling into deep space by the Plasma Energy. Zarak bickered with Galvatron about who is going to rule the galaxy in the end.

Personality[]

Zarak has a mean and arrogant personality and shown no remorse in the cartoon. He has shown a soft side when he is with his daughter, Llya in the comics.

Trivia[]

  • In the cartoon, Zarak's skin color is green, whereas in the comics, his skin color is pure human skin.
  • Zarak, along with Grax, are the only members of the Hive that have never been mechanically modified.
  • Zarak is muscle-built in the cartoon, while he is is thin and middle-aged in the comics.
  • Zarak is the first Decepticon-allied Nebulan to force the Decepticons to work with him.
  • Zarak has a daughter named Llya in the comics.
  • Zarak said the last lines in the cartoon.
  • Among the G1 humans and Nebulans, Zarak is the most evil Nebulan the G1 universe.
  • The Beast Machines incarnation of Megatron was inspired by Zarak.
  • Due to Gort and his friends are the surviving Nebulans, it is likely Zarak killed the other Nebulans. This makes Zarak the most evil human/Nebulan in the G1 universe.
  • Mark Morgan has the same equipment as Zarak’s laboratory. It may be hinted that he and Gregory Swofford are working for the Hive.
  • Originally Zarak was going to be voiced by Aron Kincaid but the role was given to Stan Jones for unknown reasons.
  • If the cartoon has been revived with a new season, Zarak would serve as one of the main antagonists along with Galvatron, Scorponok and Bludgeon.
  • He does not exist in the Japanese Generation One Continuity as Scorponok is his own person. However Zarak from USA Cartoon dimension jumps to the Legends World Universe in the Transformers: Legends Manga in a crossover with two depicted as universes.
