The Lord of the Coast is a minor antagonist in One Piece. He is a Sea King who inhabits the waters near Foosha Village and ate Shanks' left arm.

The Lord of the Coast is a huge sea monster that looks a bit like an eel. The sea monster has a grayish skin tone and a spiny dorsal fin runs along its entire body. It has sharp teeth and red eyes.
Biography[]
Ten years ago, when Shanks and his pirate crew were in Foosha Village, Monkey D. Luffy's hometown, the bandit leader Higuma and his men came to Makino's bar and caused unrest. At first the bandits retreated, but later they came back to the bar and Higuma threatened Luffy. Shanks could not let this go and a fight broke out between the pirates and the bandits, in which the bandits had no chance. Their leader took advantage of the unrest during the fight and fled with the village boy out to sea on a small boat. Unfortunately for Higuma, however, the giant Lord of the Coast circled around them, bumping into the boat and sending them both into the water. While the Sea King devoured Higuma, Luffy, who was incapacitated after eating a devil fruit in the water, was rescued by Shanks and pulled on board. The Sea King positioned itself in front of the pirate captain and bit him once, tearing out part of the front boat. Shanks then chased the sea monster away with his gaze, but it was now clear that the Lord of the Coast had previously bitten off his left arm.
