Lorelei Martins is the major antagonist of The Mentalist TV-show. She is one of minions of the serial killer Red John. Later, she turns on against him because she finds out that he killed her sister.
She was played by Emmanuelle Chriqui who also voiced Paige in Tron: Uprising
Biography[]
Background[]
Lorelei once had a sister, Miranda, but her mother sold her to other people because she was a drug addict. Later, Lorelei reunited with Miranda, but later Miranda was raped and killed by someone. This led Lorelei to serve the cruel maniac Red John.
Onscreen[]
Lorelei is first seen when Patrick is drowning his sorrows after being fired for interrogating a suspect too harshly. She stands up for Patrick when he is being beaten for his past sins. She also reveals that she works for Red John. She offers to team up with Red John. Patrick, seeing this as a chance to get even with Red John for killing his family, agrees to the offer. Red John demands Teresa Lisbon's head from Patrick, but Patrick brings a melon instead (he does not want to kill an innocent man). Red John orders Lorelei to cut off two of Patrick's fingers, but the police intervene. One of Lorelei's guards is killed in the shootout. One of the police officers named Susan Darcy fires at the spot where Red John is supposed to be sitting and apparently hits a man. But it is later revealed that Luther Wainwright, Patrick Jane's boss, was there. He was tied up and therefore could not warn Patrick about what was happening (but he could not be Red John). Lorelei is detained. However, the CBI and the FBI cannot decide for a long time who should work with her. They even arrange a court hearing. The CBI wins, but Lorelei Martins is replaced with another prisoner. With the help of Bret Stiles, Patrick manages to find and get Lorelei out of prison. He also finds out that Red John killed her sister and proves this to Lorelei. She escapes, having only managed to say that Patrick and Red John shook hands (that is, they crossed paths at least once). After that, she kidnaps and tortures Julia Howard, one of Red John's accomplices. Julia dies from torture, having managed to confirm to Lorelei her involvement in her sister's death. Later, Lorelei contacts Jason Lennon, a rapist from a women's shelter. She wounds him, but Patrick Jane, who arrived in time, stops her from killing Jason. Jason confesses to his crimes and his involvement in the murder of Miranda. The police apprehend Jason, but Lorelei escapes. She is soon found murdered. Patrick soon receives a recording in which Lorelei confesses that she was unable to kill Red John. Her body shows signs of torture. Lorelei also relays a message from Red John to Patrick on the recording. The message states that Red John knows who Patrick suspects and that much blood will soon flow (which, unfortunately, turns out to be nothing but truth).
Personality[]
Lorelei is more of an innocent girl who fell on the wrong side of the law than a hardened criminal. She only works for Red John because her sister was killed and he was able to console her. After learning from Patrick that Red John was the one who killed her sister, she decides to make sure of it, tortures one of the participants in her sister's murder to death and wounds another. Later, she tries to kill Red John himself, but she loses the battle.
