Lorenzo is a major antagonist of the 2020 action role-playing fantasy game, Genshin Impact who serves as one of the two main antagonists alongside Jemma in Lyney's Story Quest: Felis Fuscus Chapter: Act I - The Forgotten Thief.
He was the former apprentice of the famous Fontainian Magician, Cesar, before betraying him to help Jemma with her assassination plans.
In English, he was voiced by Jason Marnocha.
Personality[]
Lorenzo can be described as someone solely concerned about wealth and attention. He envied his master, Cesar, not only since he believed he took all the fame for himself, but also prevented him from swindling people of their money with their tricks. Even after setting out as his own Magician, he quickly found the position boring and switched to a business career.
History[]
Past[]
Years prior to the events of the quest, Lorenzo worked as the apprentice of the Fontainian Magician, Cesar. He helped his master to fine-tune his tricks and shows, thus making him very popular. Cesar however, was not interested in earning wealth for his acts and was primarily concerned with providing a performance for his audience. This brewed a hatred in Lorenzo as he believed Cesar took all the credit for their shows and failed to sufficiently profit from their work.
Murdering Cesar[]
Cesar's fiancé, Jemma, had taken note of Lorenzo's resentment, and began to collaborate with him. Revealing herself as the infamous thief the "Phantom Weasel", she confessed to Lorenzo that her engagement with Cesar was only a ruse in order to later frame him for her crimes before killing him. Seeing an opportunity to be rid of his master, Lorenzo agreed to work with her.
The two carried out Cesar's murder by sabotaging the box which Cesar would use in his high-drop magic trick. The trick was that Cesar would seem trapped in the box as it was suspended in the air. The base of the box would then open, making it appear as if Cesar had fallen out. When in truth, he would escape by pushing a button to open a hidden door, while a dummy would fall in his place. Lorenzo and Jemma sabotaged the box by switching it with a different one that did not have the button on the left side, which was Cesar's dominant hand. This caused Cesar to struggle finding the button until the base let out, thus leading to his death.
After Cesar's death, Jemma and Lorenzo put false evidence in his belongings, thus framing him as the Phantom Weasel and tarnishing his legacy
Confrontation[]
With Cesar gone, Lorenzo set off as his own Magician. Yet he quickly found the occupation boring and instead chose to pursue a career in business.
10 years after the incident, Lorenzo had been contacted by and asked to meet up with Lyney at the Hotel Debord. Upon Lyney's arrival, Lorenzo became annoyed when noticing that he had also brought the Traveler and Paimon to their meeting. Lyney began to ask Lorenzo questions regarding his relationship with Cesar, due to a recent warning letter than appeared at the opera house announcing the Phantom Weasel's return. Upholding the lie, Lorenzo angrily stated to Lyney that Cesar was the Weasel, and then called him out for being ridiculous by believing in the letter since Cesar was dead.
As they were talking, Edmondo, one of Lorenzo's business partners, came over to their table intoxicated. Edmondo began to playfully insult Lorenzo, calling him foul-mouthed, hard-nosed, and unable to start a romantic relationship. Offended, Lorenzo angrily told Edmondo to leave before his behavior affected their business partnership. After pushing Edmondo away, Lorenzo left the table as well, but not before warning Lyney that nothing good would come out of his investigations.
Fearing the Traveler and Lyney may expose the Phantom Weasel's true identity, Lorenzo sent several thugs after them. The two managed to fend off all of Lorenzo's men, and their investigations eventually led them to Cesar's Workshop. After the two discovered the sabotaged box from the incident, Lorenzo personally confronted them with two Clockwork Meka, only to be swiftly defeated. Lorenzo finally admitted to Lyney that he was the Phantom Weasel, and was then taken into custody by the Gardes.
