Loretta Lassiter is the main antagonist from the 2016 film, The Whole Truth.
She was portrayed by Renée Zellweger.
Biography[]
Loretta Lassiter is the widow of wealthy lawyer Boone Lassiter, who was murdered in his home. Her son, Mike, was accused of the murder, but he was acquitted at the film's climax. Flashbacks at the end of the film revealed that Loretta was having an affair with Richard Ramsey, Mike's lawyer and Boone's colleague. Boone suspected that Loretta was cheating but never knew with who, and following this, Loretta conspired with Richard to kill Boone.
Richard himself committed the murder; stabbing him in his chest. Meanwhile, the evil Loretta did her part to make herself appear as a battered wife; beating and bruising herself in her shower. Mike had purposely touched the knife after the murder, which resulted in his arrest. During testimony, Loretta continued her ruse and stated that Boone had beaten her shortly before he was killed, and claimed that Mike killed him in defense of his mother. Loretta's fate was never revealed after her son's acquittal.
