Biography[]
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet[]
Pre-games[]
Before the events of the games, there lived an old man and an old woman, who had no children of their own cared for a small, timid Pokémon named Pecharunt. Pecharunt created special Binding Mochi from the poison in its body to get more attention from the old couple. The Binding Mochi appeared to bring out the greed of those who ate it. The couple started begging Pecharunt for more, so it thought if it gave them their wishes, they’d love it even more.
One day, Pecharunt met a small and weak Pokémon: Okidogi, It fed him Binding Mochi and gave him a Toxic Chain, which wrapped around Okidogi's neck, drawing out his desires and capabilities; giving a powerful physique by stimulating the muscles for Okidogi, turning him big and strong, Granting his wish and, supposedly, his Typing; Fighting, as a result of his granted wish and his Secondary Typing; Poison due to the chains's toxins.
The Binding Mochi that fed Okidogi have cost him of being chained to Pecharunt's will, turning him into its retainer.
Pecharunt had Okidogi deliver various gifts to the couple, including several boxes of Mythical Pecha Berries, only making their love for it grow.
And so their love for Pecharunt grew and grew. One day, the couple asked Pecharunt for something strange: masks embedded with Tera Crystals that were rumored to be in Kitakami. So Pecharunt and Okidogi set off to Kitakami to get the set of Masks for the couple. While on the way, Pecharunt and Okidogi encountered two Pokémon:
- a Clumsy and Dimwitted Pokémon: Munkidori.
- a Pokémon with short, dull feathers: Fezandipiti.
Pecharunt fed them Binding Mochi and gave them Toxic Chains, which wrapped around Munkidori' head and Fezandipiti's waist, drawing out their desires and capabilities; psychic powers by stimulating the brain for Munkidoki, a beautiful look along with a lovely voice for Fezandipiti, Granting their wishes and, supposedly, their Typings; Psychic, and Fairy as a result of their granted wishes and their Secondary Typing; Poison due to the chains's toxins.
The Binding Mochi that fed them have cost the duo of being chained to Pecharunt's will, of being chained to Pecharunt's will, turning them into its retainers, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti became part of the group along with Okidogi and their new master. So they set out to Kitakami.
While there, they searched for the masks in the Festival of Masks. Then, they noticed two figures, both wearing glittering masks. Using Munkidori’s ability, they tracked down where they lived.
While Ogerpon was away, Okdidogi and Fezandipiti snuck into Ogerpon's home, and stole the masks. The man noticed them, and he tried to protect all of the masks, but they stole three of them: the Wellspring Mask, the Hearthflame Mask, and the Cornerstone Mask, with the man only holding onto the Teal Mask. This confrontation resulted in the man's death and Ogerpon discovering her masks had been taken.
After escaping the cave, they delivered three of the four masks to Pecharunt, who was overjoyed to give the couple their wish. However, this joy was cut short by Ogerpon. Donning the Teal Mask with its kanabō in hand, Ogerpon attacked them in an uncontrollable fit of rage that culminated in her killing the thieves while Pecharunt survived the battle after Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti perished in Ogerpon's hands as Pecharunt found itself embroiled in battle with Ogerpon over the masks—ultimately resulting in Pecharunt’s defeat. launched a final strike against Pecharunt, incapacitating it.
Using the last of its strength, Pecharunt was able to clasp its shell closed, rolling away deep into the forest, left to slumber.
However, her anger caused the villagers to fear her even more. Unaware of the full story, the nearby villagers mistakenly believed Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti had perished while protecting their home from a terrifying, rampaging ogre.
As Ogerpon left the village, alone and in sorrow, the villagers named the trio: the Loyal Three, and put their bodies to rest. The Loyal Three's remains were buried near the village, and a monument dedicated to honor their "Sacrifice" was erected on top. The surrounding area would be known as Loyal Three Park, later renamed to Loyalty Plaza.
Ogerpon was left alone in her cave, saddened by the events that had transpired. She mainly resided in the Dreaded Den for many years.
The village mask maker— who gifted Ogerpon and the man with the four masks— understood what had happened between the Loyal Three and Ogerpon, but the other villagers dismissed him as a heretic for attempting to explain the truth.
To protect his family from suffering the village's wrath as he did, he kept the truth hidden from everyone except his family members, who passed the truth down to their descendants as a family secret.
From that point on, the Loyal Three were unjustly revered as the Heroes by the people of Kitakami for generations.
According to local Kitakami beliefs, worshiping the Loyal Three would grant various benefits such as kindness, success, and good fortune:
- Worshiping Okidogi will grant kindness and help ensure things are "Okey-Dokey" between both sides.
- Worshiping Munkidori ensures one is successful in life and that everything will be "Hunky-Dory".
- Worshiping Fezandipiti leads to both good luck and "Serendipitous" things happening
Over the course of generations, the fake story of "Three brave heroes who gave their lives to defend Kitakami from a rampaging ogre" was passed down, masks depicting Ogerpon as a malicious nefarious "Monster" and the Loyal Three as noble "Heroes" were produced to be used as part of the traditional festival of Masks.
Sometime later, a lady found the dormant Pecharunt and display it as a decoration in the Peachy's store in Mossui Town, as time passed, the people of Kitakami started knowing it as the Never-Rotting Peach.
Afterwards, Ogerpon took to visiting the Festival of Masks again by wearing her teal mask, as she would once again be able to blend with the villagers as just another kid wearing a mask.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask[]
Many years later, when Ogerpon was discovered by a visiting student from Paldea and Carmine at the festival, they both secretly came up with a plan to repair Ogerpon's broken Teal Mask and give it back to her, keeping it a secret from Carmine's younger brother, Kieran.
He overheard the truth about meeting Ogerpon and stole the mask in a fit of rage, bringing to the monument of the Loyal Three, wanting to battle the Paldean student for betraying his trust.
After losing the battle, Kieran punches the monument. Unknown to everyone, an ominous purple mist was briefly seen in his fist after punching the monument in anger while Kieran reluctantly hands back the stolen Teal Mask before leaving.
Just as Carmine and the Player was about to leave, the ground begins to shake as the monument begins to shine as a purple-pinkish beam of light bursts out from the ground, awakening the Loyal Three.
The trio immediately starts heading to Kitakami Hall where the other masks were kept. The residents, thinking that their heroes had returned, gladly handed over the masks and fed them Kitakami mochi, making them grow exponentially larger and become stronger, before they headed off to the Dreaded Den to confront Ogerpon, about have their revenge on her for killing them.
The Loyal Three were seen harassing Ogerpon who is left defenseless as the player intervenes, causing them to retreat after a battle. The player along with Kieran and Carmine track each of them down and defeat them in battle to retrieve the stolen masks, finally stopping their reign of terror and giving Ogerpon her masks back.
The villagers saw the player with Ogerpon along with Carmine, as Kieran and their grandfather explained the Truth to the villagers.
Afterwards, they apologize to Ogerpon after they realized that The Loyal Three were never Heroes and that Ogerpon was actually the victim of their misdeeds, The villagers denounce them as the "Lousy Three" or using their original name in a more sarcastic manner, while welcoming Ogerpon to the village, who is no longer feared as the "Evil Ogre", now being praised as the "Hero" she is all along.
After finishing the main story of the Teal Mask, the player can return to each of the spots where they battled them the first time to catch them for good and make them as friends with their Pokémon.
Additionally, despite learning the truth of their greedy nature, the caretaker also requested the player help donate some money to help fix the Loyal Three's shrine to restore it as a sight of tourism.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero's epilogue: Mochi Mayhem[]
The Loyal Three do not play a role in the epilogue: Mochi Mayhem. In the final battle with Pecharunt, if the player sends out Okidogi, Munkidori or Fezandipiti, Pecharunt will react with shock and anger, yelling out "Pechaaa! Chraaahhh!"; it'll become enraged, possibly for their betrayal as they are now serving the player as instead of itself, showing their redemption.

Trivia[]
- Okidogi, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, and Pecharunt along with Ogerpon reference the Japanese folktale of Momotarō albeit with the heroes and villains' roles reversed The tale relates the titular Momotarō, a boy born from inside a peach, who traveled alongside a talking dog, monkey, and pheasant to fight a band of oni (a Japanese folkloric creature commonly equated to ogres in translations).
- Pecharunt represents Momotarō himself. Its outer shell covering resembles a bisected peach, referencing how Momotarō was found as a baby inside a cut peach.
- Okidogi represents the Dog, specifically the Shiba Inu or the Japanese Akita.
- Munkidoki represents the Monkey, particularly the Japanese macaque especially it's shiny form, while its regular coloration resembles a Chimpanzee.
- Fezandipiti represents the Pheasant, particularly the Copper Pheasant, Both the male and the female of the copper pheasant have a similar brown color, but the male has a brighter hue with coppery luster. Its crest and plumage also bears resemblance to the Hoatzin, whose consumption of toxic plants and emission of malodor.
- Lastly, Ogerpon represents the Oni.
- During the scene showcasing Ogerpon's true story as told by Carmine and Kieran's grandfather, when the Loyal Three are about to steal Ogerpon's masks, Pecharunt can be barely seen right above Okidogi.
- The name of the trio's members all ironically seem to reference different expressions that are associated with happiness: Okidogi being taken from "Okie-dokie", Munkidori being taken from "Hunky-dory", and Fezandipiti being taken from "Serendipity".
- The wishes granted to each of the Loyal Three by their Toxic Chains is the classic "Beauty, Brains, and Brawn" trope, which usually applies for several female groups.
- Their base HP stat of 88 can be read in Japanese as goroawase for やばい yabai, which can mean several different things like “terrible” and “dangerous” which references their true nature as greedy, vicious thieves.
- They are the first Pokémon to be shown being revived from the dead onscreen in the core series.
- When Kieran punches the Loyal Three's shrine after his third battle, a purple mist can be briefly seen in his fist, implying the trio's awakening may have something to do with Kieran himself or Pecharunt.
- Their colors of red, blue, and green resembles the Doronbo Gang from Yatterman:
- The Loyal Three aka Lousy Three share similarities with Team Rocket.
- In The Untold Story of Pecharunt video released on January 15, 2024, it was revealed that the Loyal Three weren't actually thugs who wanted to steal the masks out of greed but rather well-intentioned albeit misguided beings who from their point of view were on a noble quest for treasure and did not realize they were committing a crime.
- This also means that, ironically, the Loyal Three themselves suffered the same fate that Ogerpon initially did of being labeled as evil threats by the population of Mossui Town due to not knowing the full story behind their actions.
