I'm not Lucas Hood!! I saw him die! I picked up his wallet, and i became him. I'm a lie, Brock, i'm a fake. I was a thief.. Not just a thief, i'm a f-cking infiltration specialist. Diamonds, gold, art, anything, i could get it. The places no one could get into? I got in. I had a good run, but I got caught, and I did 15 years.
~ Hood confesses to Sheriff Brock Lotus.

Lucas Hood is the main protagonist of the Cinemax original series Banshee.

He is an ex-con and a thief who assumes the identity of Sheriff Lucas Hood who dies during a bar fight he witnesses. Upon assuming his identity, Hood at first struggles to maintain his lifestyle as a cop, but he more and more grows into the position as the series progresses.

He was portrayed by Antony Starr, who also plays Homelander in The Boys.

Biography[]

Hood had an abusive father who would regularly beat him and his mother, eventually resulting in Hood killing him. He then later enlisted in the army and attacked his instructor. Instead of being court-martialled he was moved into a black site by a man called Robert Dalton, who then would recruit Hood into his black ops team. Hood would do jobs for Dalton for years, eventually breaking up with him when he was tasked to kill a hacked called Job. Job assured him that Dalton was going to take Hood out as well, so Hood began working with Job who helped him disappear from Dalton. Some point after this he met Rabbit, an Ukrainian mob boss from New York City, and began working for him.

He eventually fell in love with Rabbit's daughter Anastasia and the two started planning a life away from the ruthless mobster. The opportunity came with the infamous Capital Diamond robbery, where he and Ana stole $10 million worth of diamonds. The job ultimately failed though, as Rabbit found out about their plan to screw him, so he had his right-hand man Olek call the police on them. Ana managed to escape, but Hood got caught and ended up doing 15 years for his crimes.

Season 1[]

When he first arrived in Banshee, he was only supposed to get his take from the Capital Diamond robbery - from which he incarcerated for - from his former girlfriend Ana, but she lies and tells him that she was robbed by some Serbians. During this interaction it also becomes clear to Hood that Ana has moved on from him as she has a family now. This leads to him going into the Forge for a drink, however a couple of goons working for local crime boss Kai Proctor decided to rob the place which led to a fight between the Original Sheriff Hood and the two robbers. He manages to shoot one of the robbers, while our Hood gets up and kills the other one. He then notices that the sheriff is dead and after a brief moment he decides to then steal his identity as he was only newly appointed to the job from Oregon and the people of Banshee didn't know what he looked like. He helps the owner of the Forge; Sugar Bates cover up the murders and then befriends him.

He then as the new sheriff of the town would have multiple run-ins with local outlaws, such as the Moody Brothers; one of whom he ended up killing, an out of town biker gang as well as the Mangan brothers. After killing Lance Mangan at Banshee's high scholl the story ended up in the news, Rabbit happened to be watching it and he immediately sends Olek to Banshee to find his daughter, and kill Hood if he intervenes. Olek is kidnapped by Hood and Ana, but eventually manages to break loose from his ties, leading into a bloody showdown between Olek and Ana, which results in Olek being killed. As, Olek hadn't reported in, Rabbit assumes he is dead, and heads out to Banshee himself with all his manpower. Hood, frightened by to possibility of Rabbit coming to town, enlists the help of local crime boss Kai Proctor in dealing with the gang, who agrees to it, with Hood owing him a favor afterwards. At the end of the penultimate episode of the season Rabbit ambushes Hood at the Cadi with his men. Hood was then saved by Proctor, who reminds him of the favor he owes him. Rabbit then decides to change his strategy in getting to Hood and Ana, so he decides to kidnap Ana's son Max. Hood then gives himself up for Rabbit in exchange for Max and Rabbit starts furiously torturing Hood. Ana, realizing what Hood did, enlists Job's and Sugar's help in saving Hood from the Ukrainian gangsters, which they do on a remote steel mill where Hood was kept. Ana faces off with his father and shoots him a couple of times in the chest, with everyone assuming he did on the spot.

Season 2[]

The season starts off with the FBI beginning an investigation about the shootout at the steel mill. Special Agent Jim Racine has been assigned to the case. He is later revealed to having chasing Rabbit for the last 10 years. Racine informs Ana about Rabbit still being alive somewhere. Sometime later Proctor comes to Hood and asks him to fulfill the favor he earlier promised to do. He is tasked with retrieving Rebecca Bowman back from Alex and Nola Longshadow who have taken her as they suspect Proctor of robbing one of Alex' casinos armored trucks when in reality it was actually Hood, Ana, Job and Sugar who did the job. Hood successfully saves Rebecca from the Longshadows' and Proctor thanks him for getting his niece back. Later on in the season, Hood starts a war against Proctor as he suspects he killed Jason Hood - the son of the original Lucas Hood, who came to Banshee after stealing $50 thousand from an Oregon mob boss Raymond Brantley. Hood decided to help Jason as he feels like he owes his dad that and he kills Quentin, Brantley's enforcer tasked in retrieving the money back from Jason. Jason was then supposed to leave the country with a new identity given by Job, but during his last night in town, he went into hotel room with Rebecca Bowman. Proctor did not take this well and he ordered his man Clay Burton to garrote Jason to dead in front Rebecca. Hood then contemplates even killing Proctor, but decides to try and take him down legally. He begins questioning everyone with connections to Proctor's organization and when that proves useless, he decides to ruin his meat factory's meat and blow up his ecstasy factory just to hassle with Proctor. He then breaks and enters into Proctor's house to try and look for something incriminating, he does and then comes up with a story of a fake witness, resulting in Proctor getting arrested.

Sometime later, Job finally manages to track down Rabbit and decides to go to New York to kill him himself. He fails in this and is left badly injured, leaving Hood and Ana responsible for finally taking Rabbit out. They travel to New York, save Job from assassins sent by Yulish, Rabbit's brother. They then contact local arms dealer Fat Au and buy some hardware to get ready for their upcoming battle. The two then attacks the church where Rabbit is held up in, but are quickly outgunned and left trapped in a corner. Job alongside with Fat Au's men would come into the rescue. Yulish, furious about his dead men would come around the corner and try to gun the crew down, but fails in it as Hood kills him. Hood and Ana then find Rabbit outside the church and the three would sit down for a moment, before Rabbit eventually shot himself.

Season 3[]

The season starts with the fallout from last season. Not by Hood's actions though, but Proctor's. Proctor has been released from jail as the witness for his disappeared and Alex Longshadow is dead. This led to Chayton Littlestone a member of the Kinaho Tribe, on the lam from law enforcement to return into Banshee and start a war against Proctor. Chayton makes multiple attempts on Rebecca's and Proctors' lives, ultimately failing in every one of them. Hood also gets dragged into the war as Chayton and his Redbones hijack a military transport, killing all the marines guarding it. When going into Camp Genoa to get some intel on the dead men, Hood caught his eyes on $7 million in cash and starts making a plan along with Job, Ana and Sugar on robbing the place.

Hood also is faced with problems from law enforcement as Robert Phillips of FBI's internal affairs comes into Banshee to arrest him as he has found the Capital Diamond file with Hood's picture on it. The two never make it back to FBI's headquarters tho as they are intercepted by a couple of Raymond Brantley's men. Brantley then begins questioning Hood about his lost money and Jason Hood, and Hood claims to Brantley that he killed him. Brantley demands evidence of it and orders his truck to turn around back into Banshee. Robert Phillips is sent into the woods to be executed. Hood then manages to get himself loose and kill Brantley along with Mr. Cole, his enforcer and escape from the truck. He was going to head back into Banshee, but decides to save Robert Phillips from Brantley's men before that. He shot and killed both of the men sent to the woods with Agent Phillips and also contemplates killing Phillips, but ultimately decides against it. Phillips then as a favor decides not to bring Hood in and tells him that no one in the bureau even knows about this whole affair. However as cover for himself he sent the arrest file to BSD and Hood then races back into Banshee to get the file before anyone else retrieves it. He is too late though as Deputy Sheriff Siobhan Kelly - Hood's current lover had found it already.

Hood then decides to leave Banshee once and for all as his cover has been blown, but decides to do one last thing before he does. He decides to kill Proctor in which he ultimately fails, resulting in a fight between the two. Proctor is locked up and Hood then confronts Siobhan back at the station. Siobhan tells Hood that she is not gonna turn him, but Hood has to resign at the spot. The two never get the finish their conversation as Chayton opens fire on the station. This results in a siege in which Siobhan was eventually killed by Chayton. This death totally breaks Hood down, and Job suggests that they abandon the Camp Genoa job as Hood doesn't seem mentally prepared for it.

A FBI Task Force then arrives in Banshee to take over the manhunt of Chayton. FBI has located his camp deep in the Kinaho lands and they intend to take him down in the morning. However, Hood has different plans as he with along with Job, infiltrates the camp before the FBI raid in order to assassinate Chayton. The two manage to get into his tent. Chayton is still sleeping and Hood has a gun to his head. Before taking him out he decides to wake up Chayton by stabbing him in the knee, so he knows its Hood who took him out. The plan is derailed though as one Chayton's men gets back into the tent, resulting in a struggle with Job and the man. Chayton also manages to overpower, Hood and he begins to run towards the woods. Hood chases him down, trying to gun him down multiple times in the process; ultimately failing in it. The chase ends in to a cliff, where Chayton jumps down of, managing to escape once again. The FBI Captain Ferrillo finally catches up with them, threatening to take Hood's badge off, to which Hood simply replies: "Get in f-cking line!"

Despite Job's objections Hood insists they do the Camp Genoa job, which almost goes terribly wrong as during the heist Hood has a severe panic attack, leaving Job almost dead. As they were escaping through the tunnels , Colonel Stowe caught up with Hood and the two engage in a fight for a while, before Hood ultimately overpowers him. After the crew returns to the Forge, Job claims that the friendship between him and Hood is over.

The next morning, the chief of the Kinaho Police Department comes to see Hood at the Cadi and points him to Chayton's direction. Hood asks for Deputy Brock Lotus to cover him, but he says he can't do it as he is coming with him to New Orleans to find and kill Chayton.

Hood and Brock arrive in an underground fighting club where Chayton appears as a reoccuring champion fighter. Hood spots him and decides to jump into the "cage" to fight with Chayton. The fight is only interrupted by Brock who fires a warning shot into the air, and the manager of the fighting club throws the two policemen out. Chayton and Hood vow to each other that they will be seeing each other. The next morning, Chayton finds Hood's hotel room and attacks him in his sleep. Hood manages to get the drop on him, causing Chayton to flee again, but Hood grabs a shotgun with him to chase him down. The two end up near the docks, where Chayton decides to finally give up and accept his fate. Hood blows his brains out with the shotgun, finally avenging Siobhan. Hood and Brock throw the body into the water and Hood claims to Brock that he is done and that he won't be returning to Banshee. Brock talks him out of it, ranting about Proctor and how he needs still to be taken down.

Upon returning to Banshee, Hood goes into the Forge for a drink only to find a trashed bar and no one there. Upon closer inspection he finds some bullet casings on the bar floor. Gordon Hopewell then shows up, demanding answers for Hood's earlier endeavors where he released Deva Hopewell from police custody. He then drops one of the bullets in front Gordon and asks where Ana is. Gordon then realizes that Hood and Ana have once again been up to no good and that she, once again is in trouble and asks Hood: "Jesus christ, what the f-ck did you do now?"

Hood now is aware that Colonel Stowe had caught up with the rest of his crew and is most likely keeping them detained at Camp Genoa. So, Hood then drives up to Camp Genoa to parley with Stowe. Stowe is visibly angered by Hood's seemingly meaningless visit before Hood tells him that he has got 6 million reasons to see him. Stowe puts the pieces together and realizes that the sheriff is the fourth man of the heist. Stowe demands Hood to tell him where his money is, to which Hood answers that he wants proof of life, before he goes and gets the money for him. Stowe shows him the abducted Ana, Sugar and Job, and orders him to go get his money, which "he does".

In reality Hood returns to the Forge and gathers all the firepower he has at his disposal and prepares for the upcoming battle with Stowe and his mercs. Gordon Hopewell also joins him with the intention to get his wife back home. Hood drives to Camp Genoa's front gate, takes out the soldier at the gate, while Gordon takes out the other and opens the gate for Hood. Hood drives into the compound and faces heavy fire, so he jumps out of the car and runs to a nearby corner. While two soldiers go to clear the car, Hood blows up the car.

Hood begins to shoot the remaining soldiers with the help of Gordon, and soon also Sugar and Job as they were able to get out as well during the chaos. However, Ana is nowhere to be soon. After multiple of his men have been gunned down, a wounded Stowe appears behind the corner with Ana at gunpoint; shouting at Hood. Hood who is having flashbacks of Sibohan's death, refuses to put his gun down, but also hesitates to pull the trigger. Gordon eventually does, disarming him and then Ana finishes Stowe off by gutting him. Gordon then falls to the ground as he had previously taken a shot to the stomach and eventually bleeds out and during all that chaos, Leo Fitzpatrick - one of the only remaining one of Stowe's men - abducts Job again and takes him into helicopter. Hood hear the chopper taking off and opens fire on it, upon realizing they have Job. The chopper manages to fly off, Job along with it and Hood is left devastated.

Later during the night Hood resigns from his job; for real this time. He then sits down with Proctor who is waiting for him outside his apartment and discusses with him about his knack of survival. Hood also informs him that he is not the sheriff anymore, to which Proctor says that being the sheriff never really suited him and Hood agrees with him.

Season 4[]

The final season starts off 18 months after the events of season 3, with some flashbacks throughout the episodes. After Hood's abduction, the crew start looking for him, starting with Hood's former employer Robert Dalton. Hood and Ana infiltrate his compound, subdue his men and begin to interrogate him. Dalton tells Hood that he knows how they deal with people like Job and that he is more than likely dead. Hood and Ana hear a chopper arriving at the compound and they have to flee the scene. Hood returns back to Dalton though, puts a bullet in his head and then escapes. Hood is distraught and has fully accepted the fact that Job is dead and leaves the Forge for the last time. He then begins a bender in a hotel, often contemplating suicide, before Rebecca Bowman steps in and decides to give him a new home. One of her uncle's cabins. Hood would then time to time help out Rebecca, especially with her issues with the Boedicker family.

After, Rebecca is killed, the now sheriff of Banshee Brock Lotus finds Hood's cabin as the address of it was found on Rebecca's car. Brock brings Hood with him back to Banshee for questioning. After this, Hood goes to the scene of Rebecca's murder and finds Proctor there, who is now the Mayor of Banshee. Hood makes a deal with Proctor to bring him the killer before the police if he ends up finding him.

Hood then visits the Boedicker's as 3 months earlier he had helped Rebecca burn down their meth lab. Hood questions them about Rebecca's murder, but they swear they had nothing to do with it. However as Hood had cut one of their arms off 3 months earlier the Boedicker's intend to kill him, only to be interrupted by Sheriff Lotus.

Hood would then go and reunite with Ana, and it becomes apparent to Hood that Ana never gave up looking for Job. Soon after, the New York arms dealer and a former friend of Hood's shows up to Banshee with some information about Job's abductor Leo Fitzpatrick. Hood, Ana and Fat Au then go and abduct Leo to bring him in for questioning. The crew tortures Leo for information, and he eventually confesses to everything. Leo had sold Job out to a deep undercover goverment agent called "Hightower" who has been pumping Job for information for the last months. The crew then forces Leo to make a new deal with Hightower, but he is shocked to hear that Job is "scheduled to go dark". They manage to make the deal happen anyways and the crew uses the Camp Genoa money to buy Job out. However, after the deal has been made Hightower tries to betray the crew, but Fat Au was way ahead of him on this and order his men to take Hightower's men out. Leo manages to escape with the money during the firefight.

After the crew returns to Banshee, Hood is arrested for the murder of Rebecca Bowman as the Sheriff's department has enough evidence on him. At the same time an FBI Special Agent Veronica Dawson arrives in town to question Hood for the murder of Rebecca and the two other young women killed in the same ritualistic way. Dawson could tell within the first 15 second that Hood wasn't the serial killer and he is later set loose.

Dawson would later enlist Hood's help on the case as she discovered Hood had been investigating it himself as well. The case would later point out satanist ritualists. Dawson and Hood would then find Declan Bode, a man matching the statements of an eye-ball witness.

Dawson then goes missing after visiting Kim Newton and Hood checks the place with Sheriff Lotus. Sheriff Lotus is then struck in the head and Hood is quickly subdued as well. When the two came to, they were tied in a basement. As they were more than likely about die, Lotus demands to know more about Hood in "condemned confess their sins -situation". Hood tells him to drop it, but Lotus doesn't so Hood decides to confess everything to him. He confesses that he is not really a cop, that he is not Lucas Hood, but a thief who simply stole his identity. Lotus finds the situation incredibly hilarious seeing as he served as a deputy to a criminal for years. The basement door finally opens and Hood has managed to set himself loose from the cuffs and he attacks his ambusher and runs straight back into the house, where Dawson is held up and prepped for another "sacrifice for satan". Hood begins furiously beating up Bode, but Dawson orders him to stand down. After this, Dawson shoots Bode in the head, killing him instantly.

Later on Proctor would show up to the scene and ask that if Bode is the man who killed his niece to which Hood nods. Proctor shakes his hand and walks away. However, it began evident that Bode indeed did not kill Rebecca and the investigation leads up to Proctor as Hood finds a hidden basement in a toolsheed with blood on it as well as Rebecca's necklace. Hood then hunts down Proctor, who is just leaving the airfield after a drug deal went wrong with the Colombians. He runs Proctor and his right-hand man Burton off the road and then confronts Proctor over the murder of Rebecca. Proctor is confused as Hood tells him that Bode didn't kill Rebecca and asks Hood if he did it. Hood then throws him the necklace he found and tells Proctor where he found it. Proctor clearly has no idea what he is talking about, before looking back into car after realizing it was Burton who killed her. Hood also puts the pieces together, but isn't able to react at all as Burton finally ambushes him. The two engage in a bloody fight, where Burton gained the upper-hand and very nearly killed Hood. As a last ditch attempt Hood starts headbutting Burton, managing to overpower him. Hood then gives him up for Proctor, like they earlier agreed and Proctor snaps Burton's neck finishing him off.

After this, Hood goes on a goodbye tour with all of his closest people; his daughter Deva, Ana, Sheriff Lotus and finally Sugar at the Forge. The two share one last drink between each other, before Hood leaves Banshee to join up with Job in New York City.
