| ~ Lucian Plunder as he merges with his synthetic rings |
Lucian Plunder is the main antagonist of the 2025 Captain Planet and the Planeteers comic series created by Dynamite Comics. The founder of Plundertech Industries, Lucian is the rebooted counterpart of Looten Plunder from the original cartoon. However, after convincing Wheeler to give up his Planet Ring, Lucian was able to use his resources to craft five synthetic rings. After overloading them with power, Lucian is turned into Captain Pollution.
History[]
To the public, Lucian is one of the biggest names on Earth, creating reactors to help fund progress, despite protestors. Behind the scenes, he has a private army, including Argos Bleak and Duke Nukem to do his bidding. One of these assignments was to captain Gaia, the present Earth Priestess and holder of the five Planet Rings. Using them, Gaia summoned Captain Planet to fend off the army. Despite his attempts, the Captain is defeated by a straight bullet to his neck. Before being taken to Plundertech headquarters in New York, Gaia is able to send the Rings across the globe, giving them to five people. Lucian hooked Gaia up to his new Eclipse Reactor, which would use the planet's energy as an endless energy source, not caring what it would do to the Earth.
The five Planeteers, Kwame, Wheeler, Ma-Ti, Gi, and Linka met in New York and were attacked by Plunder's forces. The five summoned Captain Planet who quickly defeated the army. The Planeteers and Captain Planet escaped into the sewers to hide from more troops, where the Captain was forced to return due to the over satuation of chemicals. Deciding to act, the five infiltrated PlunderTech and stole information from the lead scientist, Dr. Blight. After this victory however, Wheeler decided to quit, being he accidentally burned down the factory he worked at when first getting the ring. Seeing the opportunity, Plunder met with Wheeler directly, and convinced him to give it up. With the help of Dr. Blight, Plunder was able to craft five replica rings from the Fire Ring alone to control the Eclipse Reactor. As the remaining Planeteers storm the building, Ma-Ti angrily confronts Wheeler about giving up. Wheeler shot back, claiming Ma-Ti had no knowledge of what he had been through. During the attack, Plunder pumps excessive amounts of power into the synthetic rings, causing them to overload. When the smoke cleared, Plunder had been transformed into a corrupted version of Captain Planet called Captain Pollution.
Kwame then challenges Captain Pollution directly, using the Earth Ring to create an armor made of stone and plant life to do combat. What Pollution didn't realize was this was a distraction so the rest of the Planeteers could get Wheeler's ring back. Using his new powers, Captain Pollution tossed Kwame across town, even tossing a semi-truck at him. To Pollution's surprise, Kwame started laughing, revealing their deception as Wheeler reclaimed the ring.
The five then summon Captain Planet once more, openly worrying Captain Pollution. Captains Planet and Pollution began to fight, landing on Hope Island. While fighting, both combatants were reaching a stalemate being their respective powers were the weakness to the other. During their fight, Captain Pollution gloated, saying Planet had nothing to fight for. Captain Planet countered by saying the people of Earth were his heroes, and how they constantly gave him hope to fight on. While the two titans fought, the Eclipse Reactor began to go critical, and energy started to go ballistic across the planet. Donning radiation proof suits, the Planeteers were able to get to Gaia, then super-charge her with the powers of the rings and disabled the reactor. In doing so, not only was Captain Pollution slowly returning to his previous form of Lucian Plunder and the damages were being undone, but a terminal blew up in Dr. Blight's face, scaring the right side. Seeing his enemy defeated, Captain Planet took Plunder to the upper levels of the atmosphere, to show him what he almost destroyed. Lucian defiantly scoffed, saying that if not him, someone else would have tried a similar idea. Later, Lucian is shown fully stripped of his powers, PlunderTech was shut down, and he and his employees were arrested pending trial.
