Lucien is an ancient, sentient tennis racket that serves as the main antagonist of Mario Tennis Aces for the Nintendo Switch. It had the power of mind control.
Appearance
Lucien is a menacing-looking Tennis Racket that was given a golden frame that has spikes. He has five magic Power Stones just below his "sweet spot". His handle is a dark purple shade with grayish-white stripes. His color scheme is a warning not to mess with him.
Biography
According to the tale Aster, the guardian of the Kingdom of Bask, tells when he and Mario meet up at the Temple of Bask, Lucien was sealed away by the kingdom's king, King Bask. King Bask hoped his powerful magic would make sure that Lucien would not destroy the Kingdom of Bask, but the king was proven wrong when Lucien broke free from his prison and proceeded to kill him and destroy the kingdom anyway.
Wario and Waluigi eventually find Lucien and recover him, but just as soon as they do, the racket awakens from his deep slumber. He quickly takes over their minds, turning them into his thralls. The corrupted Wario brothers then proceed to show off their new find. Toad notices some weird patchwork on them upon their arrival. Suddenly, the Lucien shows off his power again, possessing Luigi. The three form a team and go on the run to find the Power Stones, but Mario gets three of them first.
Wario and Waluigi get the last two Power Stones, and Lucien initiates the Lucien Cup, which Mario wins. However, Bowser arrives and gets his hands on the Lucien, becoming Bowcien. Mario fights and defeats Bowcien, destroying Lucien with a Zone Shot in the process.
