Luclius (or Lucifaa in the original Japanese writing) is a villain from the Granblue Fantasy franchise first appearing in the anniversary event/sidestory trilogy known as What Makes the Sky Blue.
His most notable features are his often expressionless face with white shaggy hair, a scar across his neck from where his head was fused with the body of the Supreme Primarch Lucifer which bares his distinctive twelve black wings. He is a nihilistic villain who aimed to enact a plan that would erase all of creation as his way to spite god, considering the action of destroying all of creation to be teh only meaningful thing one could do.
Lucilius is an Astral hailing from the Astral Realm and was a high ranking researcher and talented creator, he is the one who created the beings known as Primal Beasts, creatures of incredible power with varying appearences that feature heavily across the world of Granblue Fantasy. Lucilius considered his greatest creation to be the Supreme Primarch known as Lucifer, a six winged angel that was tasked with watching over the Sky Realms evolution.
He serves as the main antagonist of the What Makes the Sky Blue Trilogy and the spinoff fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus and its sequel Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising.
History[]
Lucilius was created when the Omnipotent was split into two gods, the Sky God and the Astral God, with the latter being the one to create the Astral Realm and its inhabitants. Lucilius was a special case though as he was created to be a copy of Lucio one of the Omnipotents attendants, a fact he would not be aware of until later in his life, the revelation of which would set him on his quest to bring about his "Grand Finale" a plan that would cause the absolute desctruction of all life, he considered the Grand Finale to be his way of spiting God as he deemed it the only action that mattered.
Lucilius' original plan for the complete destruction of reality would fail as Lucifer would discover his creators intentions and end them, in a moment of confrontation Lucifer would sever Lucilius' head from his body, ending his ambitions but years later Lucilius' most loyal creation, another angel known as Belial would enact a plan to ressurect his master, using another Astral named Beelzebub he plotted Lucifers demise and after Lucifer was killed by Beelzebub, Belial decapitated Lucifer and stole his body fusing it with Lucilius' head and returning the genocidal Astral to life more more powerful than ever, especially when he would later absorb the aforementioned Lucio to gain his power too.
The angel Sandalphon, created to be a replacement for Lucifer, would discover the latters severed head and take on his mantle as Supreme Primarch. Sandalphon would then work with the main character, Lyria and the rest of the Grandcypher crew to put an end to Lucilius' Grand Finale and while Lucilius gives the crew a hard time but is eventually defeated and sealed within a void along with Belial.
In the story of Granblue Fantasy Versus, Lucilius is freed from his prison by Belial who had tricked Beelzebub into using a powerful item called hte Versus Core to distort reality, this merged the two seperate timelines of the protaganists Gran and Djeeta and caused enough damage to the fabric of reality that Lucilius was able to force hismelf into the newly formed joint timeline, while Gran had no idea who Lucilius was Djeeta did as she had battled and defeated him in her timeline. Lucilius created a space outside of reality he called Point Zero for the purpose of luring Gran and Djeeta there to battle as he determined that since Djeeta had defeated him before, the fabric of fate would not allow her or Gran to be defeated so he created Point Zero to make a plain of reality where no god could interfere allowing him the oppurtunity to defeat Gran and Djeeta and enact his Grand Finale. His plan would ultimately be foiled due to a series of events leading to the arrival of Versusia, a fusion of Gran/Djeeta's mother Rein and the Versus Core, with Versusia being a form of the Sky God Bahamut, he would end up being stuck in a clash against Versusia, ultimately losing the battle but still getting as he wants since Versusia destroys the Sky Realm as shown at teh beggining of the story mode update introduced with Versusia's addition to the playable roster of characters, though the story would be changed due to Versusia being convinced by Rein's spirit to turn back time to give Gran and Djeeta a chance to defeat Lucilius, which she would do by testing them in combat herself, upon being defeated Versusia would change reality once again, leaving the Grandcypher crew outside the town of Port Breeze, with only gran, Djeeta, Lyria and Sandalphon being aware of the now erased events. Lucilius' fate is ultimately unknown from but it is stated he is still out in the world somewhere.
Powers and abilities[]
Lucilius is one of the most powerful beings in the world of Granblue Fantasy, attributed mostly to Lucifers body.
Lucilius is an incredibly gifted genius being the one to create the living weapons known as Primal Beasts who possessed powers over space and time as well as elemants, these beings were also fully sentient life forms that can be indistinguishable from humans like the Primal Beast Rose Queen who takes the human form Rosetta as she travels with the Grandcypher crew. He also created the Dark Opus weapons, a series of weapons imbued with the power to defy the will of the omnipotent itself, Three of which he wields telekinetically.
Due to Astral physiology Lucilius is a truly immortal being who cannot die via age or any other convential method in combat. This also means he possess significant strength with all kinds of magic as is normal with many Astrals. Along with his natural magic abilities he is able to wield the power of the four elements via Lucifers body.
With his Twelve Black Wings Lucilius' power is on par with that of Lucio the speaker for the omnipotent, a man who is able to will the sun to rise for the pleasure of watching it set with the Main Character.
Lucilius is also able to shed his physical form and turn himself into pure energy through "Celestial Fusion" and in this form he gains even more power such as the precise manipulation of the flow oftime itself.
