Lucio Santanar is a major antagonist of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
He was a ruthless tyrannical warlord and the leader of a terrorist group known as Hukbo ng Malayang Bansa the rival group of Pulang Araw. He was also the creator of bomb which Homer Adlawan used to detonate a mall, where countless people, including Ricky Boy, were killed. He was eventually killed when Cardo decapitated him using the knife he received from Ramona during their final encounter.
He is portrayed by Raymond Bagatsing who also portrayed Edgardo Magallanes in Black Rider.
Biography[]
At some point in time, they formed a far-right-wing insurgent organization Hukbo ng Malayang Bansa with his father. Their rival rebel group the far-left-wing Pulang Araw attempted to infiltrate their camp, several times but failed every time they attempted to raid. He later killed his father to change and corrupt their group’s views and principles. He eventually conspired with Homer the leader of their rival group Pulang Araw’s Kamandag for their terrorism acts.
Days before the exposure of Lily, Arturo, and Renato’s corruption and fascistic crimes and during Armando’s lie low after escaping from Task Force Agila’s attack, their group was introduced alarming the authorities for their terrorism act. Their group has become active in terrorism as they took advantage of Senate President Camilo Evades’ weak leadership and Lily’s control all over the palace. At the same time, Renato attempted to persuade Lucio to form an alliance to take control of the government but refused his invitation.
As Oscar Hidalgo returned to presidency and ousts and expels Lily, Arturo, and Renato, Renato resorted in meeting with Lucio to form an alliance in taking down the country by killing Oscar Hidalgo and Cardo Dalisay. He successfully persuaded Lucio upon Renato betrayed his former ally Arturo Padua by detonating him a bomb. Days later after Lily’s and her allies's downfall and death in the raid in Tierra del Diablo, Lucio made rampage with Renato(who assumed as the new and final version of Lily)taking prominent officials and people as they’re hostage for their plans and Renato shared to Lucio how he and Lily share the same goal in sowing terror and fear in the hearts of their enemies. Task Force Agila then raided Lucio and Renato’s stronghold. Unfortunately, some members who attempted to raid the den, only to be abducted, tortured, and killed. Cardo eventually entered the hideout, this time he dueled with Lucio. Lucio then attempted to detonate the planted bombs to defeat Cardo. Assuming that Cardo was defeated, he was shot by Cardo in the chest. Weakened and slowly dying wounded, he then revealed himself to be the creator of the bomb which killed Cardo’s son. He was ultimately killed by getting his head decapitated by Cardo with the bolo knife Ramona gave him, finally avenging his son, his friends, as well as those who were indirectly killed by Santanar.
Personality[]
As shown in the series he is displayed to be ruthless, heartless, and merciless individual showing that he spares no one according to his views in changing the country and becomes a murderous fascist. His capability of killings and terrorism shows that he is tyrannical yet coward as he commonly choose victims what he knows that who are weak and completely no match for him.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the villains known to die by involving of amputating a part of their body. First is Enrique Vera, where he was defeated by getting his hands chopped by Fernando. Second is Armando, by tying his arms through reversing armored vehicles.
- He is also the known villains to die by the bolo knife that Ramona gave to Cardo, being first is Samuel. However, Samuel was not decapitated nor chopped any body part except that he died by Cardo stabbing him in the stomach and slashing an X mark on his face.
- Him, being indirectly responsible for killing Ricky Boy(Cardo’s son), may be a reference to a theory that the Skar King sent the skullcrawlers to kill the great apes that escaped from his lair to Skull island. If this were true, then Kong succeeded in killing the true culprit who not only indirectly killed his tribe but also his parents, while Cardo succeeded in killing the culprit indirectly responsible for his son’s death. Curiously enough, his death may be similar to the Female Muto from the 2014 Godzilla film. ]]
