Traitor! Megatron is wise! Megatron is bold! Megatron will return to the Decepticons to Cybertron!
~ Lugnut to Starscream due to his betrayal.
Blitzwing: The Autobots have called in reinforcements. Perhaps we should lay low until we can determine their strength, and numbers.
Lugnut: I will not hide. I will stand proudly and shout Megatron's name to the Heavens! [raises fist]
Megatron: Oh for spark's sake, Lugnut, you iron-brained idiot, We don't need to attract any unnecessary attention.
Lugnut: [Pants] Yes, Yes. As you command master. I will find a disguise.
~ Lugnut proclaiming his loyalty to Megatron out loud.
NEVER!
~ Lugnut replied to Megatron when he has no problem with Megatron's leadership after killing Starscream.

Lugnut is a major antagonist in Transformers: Animated. He is a powerful, obsessively loyal, and dimwitted Decepticon who is devoted to Megatron and the Decepticon cause's supremacy. Lugnut would do anything for them to achieve their goals, using his invulnerability, strength, and explosive punch.

He is voiced by David Kaye who voiced Megatron in Beast Wars Megatron in Unicron Trilogy.

Personality[]

I believe only two things: The Decepticons will rule Cybertron, and Megatron will rule the Decepticons!
~ Lugnut to Blitzwing.

Lugnut's main characteristic is his unwavering loyalty to Megatron and the Decepticon cause. He constantly praises Megatron, scolds anyone who doubts him, and craves his approval. Despite Megatron finding his devotion tiresome, Lugnut is the most reliable Decepticon for relaying orders and imprinting his personality onto Omega Supreme clones. He is easily angered by any disrespect towards Megatron. Aside from Megatron and battle tactics, Lugnut doesn't pay much attention to anything else, looking down on those who aren't truly loyal like Lockdown and Starscream.

Biography[]

Transformers Animated[]

The Great War[]

As mentioned in "The AllSpark Almanac II", during the Great War, Lugnut destroyed the Omega Sentinel Iota Supreme and his partner Wedge Major as the former was in the middle of repairing himself following the Battle for Omnitron. As seen in a flashback in "Autoboot Camp", Lugnut got a call from Shockwave, who had infiltrated Autobot boot camp, and allowed him to report to Megatron.

Aligned Universe[]

AlignedLugnut

Lugnut in The Covenant of Primus.

A version of Lugnut appears in the Aligned Universe several times, with the same personality as the original. In the novel Exodus, when Orion Pax came to Kaon to meet with Megatron for the first time, Lugnut and Barricade were the guards of the entrance to entrance to their headquarters. Orion quicky identified Lugnut as the weak-link among the two guardsmen and would likely have succeeded in talking his way past him if it weren't for the more suspicious Barricade.

During the Great War, Lugnut would become part of Megatron's "elite" forces, and at some point, as seen in The Covenant of Primus, during the Great War, Lugnut battled with Sideswipe. During the Great Exodus, Lugnut was aboard the Nemesis when they gave chase to the fleeing Ark. Later, in Exiles, Lugnut fought during the battle on Junkion, and remarked to Megatron on the locals' hardiness.

IDW Comics[]

LugnutTF2010

Lugnut made small appearances in IDW's comics, seen in the early days of the War, standing guard when Megatron welcomed a visitor, Hot Rod. At the end of the war, Lugnut had joined Deathsaurus' army. In a moment of irony, he would join the army in allying with the Decepticons against Megatron after he joined the Autobots. During the battle with the Autobots, Lugnut was attacked by Brainstorm, who broke his wrist in a misguided attempt at punching out the massive Decepticon. Before Lugnut could strike back, he was tackled out of the way by Rodimus.

In IDW's rebooted series, Lugnut was a gladiator who was beaten by Megatron in the distant past. In the modern day, Lugnut would join The Rise.

Weapons and Abilites[]

Lugnut is incredibly strong, the Hulk to Bulkhead’s Thing. He possesses the highly explosive trademark attack called "Punch of Kill Everything", where he retracts his hand, replacing it with a pressure-sensitive pad before smashing it into the ground to unleash a shock wave with the power of a small nuclear bomb, which can destroy most targets when it makes contact with them, although as frequently demonstrated, such as in "Megatron Rising Part 2", if Lugnut's opponent can hit the detonator in the fist before Lugnut is ready to launch his attack, the explosive force can defeat Lugnut instead. Though he carries a payload of mega-bombs and can spew liquid napalm with laser-like accuracy, Lugnut much prefers to rip things apart with his bare hands.
