Luke Evans, also known as the real Jack the Ripper, is a supporting antagonist in the manga Record of Ragnarok - Jack the Ripper Case Files, a spin-off of the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.

He is a Central News Agency reporter who claims to be hunting Jack the Ripper, but who is in fact the notorious serial killer who kidnaps and kills prostitutes. After his death, his killer steals his serial killer name to enter the Ragnarok Tournament.

Appearance[]

Luke Evans presents himself as a handsome young and tall man, with an oval face and short light hair almost in a bob, with a couple of locks in front that go upwards. He wears an elegant suit comprising of a sleeveless jacket over a shirt, long trousers and shoes. In his Jack the Ripper guise, he wears a long jacket and a fedora hat on his head.

Personality[]

When he pretends to work on the case of Jack the Ripper, Luke Evans shows himself as a kind and helpful boy, willing to do anything to be able to capture the well-known serial killer, even making enemies of the police or constantly harassing them with questions. In truth, however, all these attitudes are aimed at hiding his psychopathic and violent nature, which led him to kill and mutilate his own wife and to remain so obsessed with her that he hunted down and killed women like her, thus starting the legend of Jack the Ripper. He's so psychopathic that he keeps pieces of his wife at home and makes everyone believe she's still alive, even going so far as to bring her flowers.

However, when faced with someone who stands up to him or is able to beat him, he shows his cowardly nature and tries to run away or beg for his life.

Biography[]

At one point Luke Evans marries a woman, Emma Evans, who however he captures, kills and mutilates and with whom he remains deeply obsessed, to the point of keeping the pieces of the body at home and making everyone believe that she is still alive. telling them that she is the one who supports him the most and also bringing her flowers. In his madness, Luke Evans begins to hunt down all the women who are like her, the prostitutes, and to kill and maim them, thus starting the hunt for the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

Luke Evans works as a reporter for the Central News Agency on the Jack the Ripper case, hiding from everyone that he is actually the well-known serial killer. Thanks to this, Luke always brings all the news about the serial killer to his superior and, after bringing him a letter signed by Jack himself, he is entrusted with the exclusive case. Luke then starts questioning the police inspectors hoping they can tell him something, never getting anything even when he goes to crime scenes.

One evening, Luke Evans lures Sophie Lock, a girl who has become a prostitute to help her family, and after bringing her to his home, he narcotizes her and prepares to kill and mutilate her, but a mysterious individual enters the house and stops him in time. Having seen him at work, Luke Evans tries to kill him, but the mysterious individual manages to cut off his left arm and pierce both his legs with knives, and after revealing that he understood who he was thanks to the color he emanated while talking to colleague Jim Roberts at a bar that same day, he kills him by piercing his brain with a knife. Soon after, the mysterious individual frees Sophie Lock and sets Luke Evans' house on fire, burning his body and all the evidence of his guilt.

More than a century later, Brunhilde recruits the mysterious individual who murdered Luke Evans as one of the Einherjar who would represent the Humans in the Ragnarok Tournament, and when asked what name he wants to enter he replies "Jack the Ripper". When asked by Brunhilde why he wanted to choose the name of a psychopathic killer of prostitutes, the mysterious individual replies that it is not very different from him, having killed his mother Mary who was a prostitute.

Powers and Abilities[]

Overall Ability: Luke Evans possesses great charisma as a journalist, to the point of being able to lie to everyone and make them believe that he is hunting Jack the Ripper, when in reality he is the serial killer himself. He also possesses considerable strength, having managed several times to hold women long enough to narcotize them.

Knife Proficiency: Luke is very skilled at using knives, to a point that even Jack complimented his skills. He learned how to use them as a consequence of killing so many people as "Jack the Ripper". Thanks to this ability, Luke Evans is good at hand-to-hand combat, although by his own admission he has never had to face a man before Mr. Anonymous.

  • According to the Dusters Book, Jack the Ripper is worth £12,000 as a reward and is S-Rank.
