Luke Ronson is the overarching antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Smoked". Ranson is a hair stylist and the roofie rapist of Annette Fox, who was harassed by Eddie Skinner at Ronson's direction, resulting in her murder.
He was portrayed by Welsh actor Andrew Howard, who also portrayed Sheriff Storch in I Spit On Your Grave.
Biography[]
Ronson was a notable local hair stylist in New York City, as well as serial rapist who preyed on the women whose hair he cut.
After he raped Annette Fox, she pressed charges against him with the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, but the trial was delayed. Ronson hired small-time criminal Eddie Skinner to take photos of Annette and send them to her to scare her out of testifying, but Annette wouldn't budge. Skinner then stole Annette's purse, but she was more irritated than terrified. Skinner shot Annette dead in front of her daughter Jenna.
SVU Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, who were investigating her rape, considered Ronson the prime suspect in her murder, but he turns out to have a solid alibi. When they found dark clothes like Skinner wore and a gun in Ronson's possession, however, they arrested and interrogated him. He confessed to hiring Skinner, but his gun didn't match the ballistics of the bullet that killed Annette.
Benson and Stabler arrested Skinner after a witness identified him as Annette's killer, but the ATF took him into their custody because he was an informant in a case involving bootleg cigarettes. It was carried out, but in spite of Skinner being promised to the SVU as a returned inmate, Skinner escaped. He held Ronson at gunpoint and demanded his payment, and when the detectives arrived, Skinner took Ronson hostage. The detectives convinced Skinner to surrender with their preparedness to shoot him, and his gun was proved to have killed Annette. Skinner gave up Ronson, as well as his corrupt ATF contact, Special Agent Greer, who supplied Skinner with the murder weapon. They were all placed in a cell together. When Jenna came to the precinct and saw them, she produced a gun that she bought off the street and opened fire, killing Ronson, Greer, Skinner, and, accidentally, Sister Peg, a nun who frequently helped SVU with rape cases. She then aimed at Stabler, forcing him to shoot her dead in self-defense.
Trivia[]
- Ronson is inspired by Marvin Gabrion, the kidnapper and rapist of Rachel Timmerman, whose testimony at trial was delayed by two years. Gabrion later murdered Timmerman and her infant daughter, Shannon Verhage.
