Lump is a supporting antagonist in the season seven episode of Black Mirror, "Plaything".

He appears in Cameron Walker's flashbacks - a Liverpudlian drug dealer who enables Cameron's LSD addiction, and is responsible for killing the Thronglets.

He is portrayed by Josh Finan.

Personality[]

Lump has a docile, lazy and immature personality. He seems unmotivated to do much with his life outside of taking narcotics and playing video games. He also shows an entitled attitude to his 'friends', although never speaks of any friends outside of Cameron. He also shows a cheeky, humorous side as well as destructive tendencies. He also shows signs of addiction to drugs.

Physical appearance[]

Lump is a scruffy man with unkempt brown hair. He is seen wearing comfortable clothing and has disordered, yellowed teeth.

Biography[]

Background[]

Lump has a fairly mysterious background. Him and Cameron met at some point, but never had a deep relationship as Cameron cannot recall his real name - either as he was never told, never asked or forgot. Lump became a drug dealer who travelled the country looking for new customers to purchase his products.

Black Mirror[]

Lump appears solely in flashbacks. He arrives at Cameron's flat unannounced, claiming that he will be sofa-surfing temporarily whilst he looks to sell drugs in London. Whilst there, Lump offers Cameron LSD, which allows Cameron to communicate with Thronglets, digital video game characters.

Cameron becomes addicted to LSD and asks Lump for more. Whilst Lump is shocked Cameron had already gone through so much, he happily obliges and takes Cameron's money. When alone one day in the flat, Lump looks for new games to play and finds Cameron's stolen copy of Thronglets. Whilst playing, Lump cruelly kills and destroys the characters (who are sentient), and laughs as he does so. When Cameron returns home, he is enraged to see what Lump is doing and starts to fight him. Cameron throws an ashtray at Lump out of anger, causing Lump to lunge at Cameron and overpower him. However, Cameron gets a spurt of energy and puts Lump on his back, and strangles him, causing him to choke on his blood and die.

Cameron disposes of Lump's body by dismembering it and putting it into a suitcase. He then discards of it, and it is not found for many years until his body is unidentifiable. Cameorn is eventually arrested in connection to the murder after his DNA is matched to it.
