~ Luna breaks down about her motives to The D-Day Knight prior to attempting to recruit him. |
Donyale Luna (born Peggy Ann Freeman), better known as Luna and the Queen of The Lunarians, is the main antagonist in the analog "superhorror" alternate history series THE NIXONVERSE: A MONUMENT MYTHOS STORY, the second installment in THE MONUMENT MYTHOS franchise and it's expansion, THE ABSOLUTE NIXONVERSE.
Once a regular supermodel, Luna was chosen to become one of the three expansions of GOD, serving as the container for his authority and isolation. One day, she awoke in the Moon, with seemingly no conscious recollection of her previous life, and only knowing that she was the Queen of the Lunarians, a race that, unbeknownst to her, didn't even exist.
In her prophecies of a great division, she speaks of a beauty no person can see, but a beauty that everyone wishes to attain. Her people may have met the lunar visitors with open arms, if the visitors were open minded... but they were not.
Heartbroken and injured, Luna finds comfort in a prophecy that claims that she will rule the Earth alongside her King and a Knight. Her pain quickly became anger, and the Queen started a full-on invasion to Earth, where she abducted and turned humans into the people that she had been denied.
She was voiced by Sydney Antoinette.
Appearance[]
The Queen of the Lunarians is an extremely bright silhouette of a humanoid woman, holding a wand in her right hand. The wands appearance is reminiscent of a tesla coil.
In the illustration at the end of NIXON IS GOD, what might be interpreted to be Luna's canon appearance is shown: a sheer white woman with no irises and short white hair wearing a robe with a golden belt. She also wears two ear-rings of crescent moons, as well as a tattoo on her forehead, also of a crescent moon. She is also apparently glowing in the same vein as GOD was in his first appearance.
Biography[]
Creation[]
GOD had created The Queen, along with The Last Son of Alcatraz and The D-Day Knight, in order to test the people of the Nixonverse and see how they would treat beings more powerful than themselves, to see if he would be accepted by mankind. The Queen in specific was once the human model Donyale Luna, who was chosen by Nixon to take part of his experiment.
She awoke on the Moon on her own, only knowing that she was a Queen, and vowed to be a good Queen to her people. She created a Lunarian city, with air and her own throne, and awaited her people, blissfully unaware that said people didn't exist in the first place.
First Encounter with Humanity[]
On the very first expedition to the moon, Ed Dwight, John Glenn, and Michael Collins encounter the Queen on its surface, with Ed telling the rest of his crew to let her speak first, due to her existing on the planet before, on a colony called Manhattan. Luna, believing that her people had finally come home to their queen, excitedly gave them a welcome speech.
She speaks of an unknown entity and her want to differentiate between beautiful and not, through morality. And how a "Great Division" will come to this planet (which could either refer to the Moon or the Earth.), and as a consequence, there will be heavy casualties due to their inability (or rather, unwillingness) of learning how to live according to Her visions. However, she states that those "beautiful" enough will be able to become beings beyond that, with the ability to fly, to "rise above the level of a normal human," and to eventually become gods and godesses themselves.
After listening to Luna's speech, Mike notices that there is air on the Moon, while John tells Ed to shoot a ray gun given to them at her, only for the Queen to evict him from reality. This event causes the Apollo 11 crew to notice the magical properties of Lunarian physiology before they leave the scene, not before taking pictures of her. Afterwards, as she stumbled back to her city, she found a prophecy carved into the rock, saying that she would rule Earth along with the King and the Knight.
Apollo 12 Mission and War Declaration[]
After realizing the magical properties of Lunarian physiology, one of the surviving Apollo 11 members, Michael Collins, reports this to his higher ups in the US Government. After capturing the Last Son of Alcatraz after nuking his base in Alaska, a brand new moon mission would be organized; this time with the sole purpose of retrieving a Lunarian eye and using it to hypnotize the Last Son into a superweapon.
After the mission is complete, Luna would see this as a declaration of war, realizing that humanity's definition of peace was nothing but inequality and by extension their world was built on inequality as well. She particularly notes that their supposed "Peace Equation," which was created not long after the Last Son's capture, was also built on the same inequality, if not worse.
Invasion[]
Sometime later, the Avenues would get a hand of the pictures taken in the Moon. A woman who is only identified as "Grandma", presumably Alice Avenue, would attempt to burn it, prompting Molly Avenue to expose these to the world. The Queen herself decide that she would to longer rule an empty world, and created a cloudship to head to Earth, leaving the Moon behind
Luna would then capture and brainwash The Last Son of Alcatraz to become The Crescent King, as he fulfilled the prophecy. She then sent a message to humanity, stating that in return her rejecting her, they would become her Lunarians, with the first to be transformed being Michael Collins. Using the King's powerful mind-altering abilities, he is used to destroy human language so a dependency is created on the Lunarians for a non-hostile takeover of Earth.
After noticing the current mental instability and desperation of The D-Day Knight, Luna attempts to recruit him as their Lunarian Prince, explaining to him the motives of her invasion and that his condition would drastically improve if he turned his back on Earth and joined their kingdom and fulfilled their prophecy. The Knight, however, rejects this offer and murders Luna and the rest of the Lunarians using the Last Son's eye as a means to release Alcatraz matter, in an event known as the "ALCATRAZ CHECKMATE".

Trivia[]
- Luna is the Nixon Trinity's version of Wonder Woman. More specifically, her role in the Last Son's downfall and her role in the conquest of Earth brings to mind her Injustice counterpart
- The icon of the Lunarian Eye is the exact same in the one seen in her wand, implying that it's powered by a Lunarian Eye.
