The Lupertazzi Crime Family are the main antagonists of the HBO crime series The Sopranos.
It is one New York City's infamous Five Families. They serve as allies-turned-rivals of New Jersey's DiMeo crime family. It was led by longtime boss Carmine Lupertazzi and his underboss Johnny Sacrimoni. With 200 made members and over 1,000 associates, the Lupertazzis are the largest and most powerful Mafia family in the series, to the point it was often simply referred to as, "the New York Family," or simply, "New York."
Initially during Carmine and Johnny Sack's reign as boss relations between them and the DiMeo family remain at peace with each other, later in the series however as Phil Leotardo becomes boss after the deaths of Carmine and Sack, friction ensues between them and the DiMeo family as well as his personal relationship with DiMeo boss Tony Soprano which leads him and his men to deal with them in violent incidents.
