Luz is a minor antagonist in the Sandman comic book series from the DC universe. She was an inhabitant of the Land, a Dream World created by a girl named Barbie. Although initially just the benevolent incarnation of one of Barbie's toys, Luz was corrupted by the Cuckoo, a parasitic dream who made Barbie's dream world real. Luz served as the Cuckoo's right-hand and spy and helped her conquer the Land. She was eventually mistakenly killed by the witch Thessaly.

Luz was a large green toucan. She wore a blue bowtie.
Personality[]
Luz was a crafty creature who initially seemed to want to protect the Land along with its other inhabitants. However, underneath that facade, she is completely loyal to the Cuckoo, and cares doesn't care about anything but the wellbeing of herself and her mistress. She is ruthless and shows no remorse for betraying beings she once considered her friends.
Biography[]
Luz was originally just a figment of a girl named Barbie's imagination based on her stuffed animal bird. She appeared in Barbie's dreams from time to time but was not a real entity. When the Cuckoo began living in Barbie's dreams and turned them into a genuine world called the Land, Luz became a genuine entity.
As the Cuckoo got more powerful, it began to take over the Land, and corrupted Luz, who began serving as her spy. Despite knowing that the Cuckoo wanted to kill Barbie and everyone living in her world, Luz served her faithfully while pretending to be on the side of some of the Land's other inhabitants who fought her, including Martin Tenbones, Wilkinson, and Prinando.
Since the Cuckoo needed to kill Barbie to destroy the Land, Luz manipulated her companions into bringing her to the Land, resulting in Martin Tenbones being killed in the real world. Once Barbie arrived, she joined up with Luz and her remaining companions to go on a quest to kill the Cuckoo.
