Lucero Andrade, also known as Lys Antoine, is the overarching antagonist of the Netflix series Dark Desire.

Lys is a former middle-aged actress and French socialite who had an incestous affair with Darío Guerra and she is the reason why he had become the psychopath he is. She is Alberto's ex-wife and Darío's nephew/adoptive son-turned-lover, later archenemy.

She is portrayed by Catherine Siachoque, who also played several other villainesses in soap operas.

Biography[]

Before the Series[]

Lys is known for being a former TV actress, housewife and wealthy socialite married to Alberto Guerra, with whom she had three miscarriages, thus leaving them unable to be parents at least for once. After Antonio Guerra shot himself due to being framed for a crime he did not commit, both Lys and Alberto took the young Darío under their wing, raising him like their own child. Lys would later develop a sexual attraction and obsession with Darío as he turned 18, yet unbeknownst to them, Alberto took advantage of this and had voyeurism while watching them on their sexual acts. On the day of Darío's birthday, he caught them together, leading to a hot pursuit in which Alberto threatened Darío, who pleaded for his life, at gunpoint. However, Lys arrived at the last minute and shot him, later killing him in his coma for her to remain with Darío and making it seem he was mugged and died of a heart attack. Lys then planned for the two of them to move to Paris in order to start a new life together, at which point Lys got pregant and intended to tell Darío. However, he had abandoned Lys before she could have the chance. From that moment on, Lys felt completely fueled with anger and revenge, bent on finding Darío to ruin his life.

Season 1[]

Lys does not appear in the first season as it mostly focused on Alma's obsession with Darío, which led to a handful of consequences around both her professional and personal life. However, she is mentioned only once by Alma when she and Esteban, who had found out beforehand about the affair, team up to investigate the young man's past and identifying two Daríos; one is the son of a mechanical from a poor background, Antonio Guerra, and the other is the son of a deceased wealthy lawyer, Alberto Guerra. Alma adresses her by her real name, Lucero Andrade. She is later indirectly mentioned when Darío confirms to Alma that he indeed is Antonio's son and that Alberto was his uncle.

Season 2[]

Lys is initially introduced as a scared insecure woman who joins a female therapy group, which is attended by Alma to get over her obssession with Darío, and is quick to make friends with her, despite an initial misinterpretation from Alma who had thought that her presence was arranged when she brought a symbolic story that echoed Alma and Darío's dark affair, making her lash out but immediately apologizing. She tells Alma that she used to be Darío's Literature teacher and had an affair with him while he was underage and when her husband found out, he died of a heart attack. However, this turns out to be more of a facade as Lys proves to know more than she is saying. Lys also reappears in Darío's life and inititates her revenge plan against him. Darío has been engaged with a beautiful woman named Julieta and is to marry her in a few days, but Lys, pretending to be Julieta's dress designer to get close to her, manages to destroy it by sending her a video of Darío and Alma having sex in the hotel's laundry rooms, which makes Julieta uncomfortable during her bachelorette party and goes to the top floor; Lys manipulated the young woman before leaving. Remembering her previous encounter with Alma in the elevator, she contacts her with the phone card she gave her, intending to meet about Darío, who had arrived at the scene first before Alma could. Julieta confronted Darío about Alma, with Lys overhearing them from a distance while hiding. In a fit of rage, Darío threw Julieta off the hotel roof, killing her in the process and prompting an investigation that pins Alma, Darío and Lys as potentional suspects as the three of them were present the night of the fateful murder. While Alma confirms her innocence in Julieta's murder, both Darío and Lys (albeit separately due to their personal feud) go to extreme lengths to cover their own tracks and hide their implications in Julieta's murder.

Lys keeps on deceiving Alma and pretending to be on her side, before she is eventually caught on her lie, even while trying to escape to Paris and Darío attempting to stop her. Lys insists she knows nothing about an evil twin brother of Darío's, something that is proven true when Alma finds out that Darío made the whole scam up to pay his inheritance. Lys eventually reveals the truth to Alma, that she had a part in the murder of Julieta as she only wanted to get back at Darío by ruining his engagement to his would-be future wife, but confirms that she did not kill her. She was also the person who had anonymously sent Alma the invitation to Darío's wedding and framed her for Julieta's murder out of jealousy and hatred for her closeness to Darío. Even so, Lys is the reason why Julieta is dead because she had sent her the porn video in the first place, thus making Lys a murder accomplice. Lys is arrested for her crimes and is given a life sentence in a women's prison.

Trivia[]

  • She is similar to Love Quinn from You as both of them are obsessive stalkers pursuing a man they fall in love with, who would be Joe Goldberg and Darío Guerra respectively, before turning on them. In addition, they are revealed to be mentally ill murderers who have killed their own husbands. The only differences between them are the following:
    • Love met Joe during the events of the second season of You, whereas Lys met Darío before the current events of Dark Desire, thus making their affair the catalyst of events that had set off the plot of the series in the first place.
    • Love killed James Kennedy since it's been in her nature as a teenager (before she had ever met Joe) while Lys killed Alberto to be with Darío.
    • Love has murdered a handful of people (Sofia, her husband James Kennedy, Delilah Alves, Candace Stone and Natalie Engler) while Alberto is the so far only person Lys has ever killed. Love even tried to kill Gil for having gotten her and Joe's son sick (due to his aversion to vaccines) and Marienne for her closeness to Joe. However, Gil survived Love's attack but later hanged himself while Love decided to spare Marienne at the last minute after noticing her daughter, thus not wanting to make the same mistake like she did with Ellie as Love had indirectly forced her to move out, which served as a source of tension because with her sister Delilah's death, Ellie had no one to take care of her.
    • As of their respective fates, Love was ultimately killed by Joe while Lys is still alive but imprisoned with a life sentence for her crimes.
