Biography[]
M.O.D.O.K. was originally a human called George Tarleton, but wanted to have more power, and went through an experiment that turned him into the superior computer and technological mastermind, M.O.D.O.K, and also became the leader of the fierce terrorist organization A.I.M. He then allies with Red Skull and they plot to switch Skull's body with Captain America, as Skull's old body is dying. Per plan, Skull teleports Cap to the HYDRA base, but Iron-Man flies in. Skull eventually overpowers Iron-Man and throws him backwards, before M.O.D.O.K. arrives in a portal and uses his technopathic powers to lift Iron-Man in the air and throwing him back down before the two leave through a portal, also containing Cap's shield. At the Antarctica base, M.O.D.O.K. and Skull prepare to start the process when they see the Avengers flying in in the Quinjet, and M.O.D.O.K. uses his powers to hack it's system, causing a hologram and mocking Iron-Man as he explodes it, only for them to escape and start fighting the HYDRA guards. He and a battalion surround Iron-Man, and he uses his powers on him until Black Widow uses two grenades to knock him backwards. On Skull's orders, M.O.D.O.K. retreats inside and starts the process. While the two bodies begin switching, Iron-Man storms in and blasts the door onto M.O.D.O.K., but he is too late and Skull is transported into Cap's body. While they battle, M.O.D.O.K. breaks free and attempts to attack Iron-Man, but the latter uses a magnetic pulse on M.O.D.O.K. briefly robbing him of his powers. As the other Avengers break in, rubble collapses onto M.O.D.O.K., but the guards take it off him. Thor and Hulk jump behind him, and the combination of Mjolnir and Hulk's clap wave throws M.O.D.O.K. through the wall. Falcon manages to reverse the body switch, and Skull is returned to his body, but M.O.D.O.K. release a large surge of energy which blocks Hulk and tortures a screaming Iron-Man by levitating him and painfully ripping his armor and Arc Reactor off piece by piece and putting it onto Skull, turning him into the Iron Skull, leaving the unconscious Iron-Man and the Avengers as they leave through a portal, victorious. M.O.D.O.K.'s surge of energy also places microbots on the Avengers, save for Iron-Man, which he reveal to Iron Skull as they reach his submarine. They then teleport to the Avengers Mansion and see their plan has succeeded, and the microbots are making the Avengers recklessly fight each other. Skull left to find the Mansion's reactor and explode it as M.O.D.O.K. gleefully watched the Avengers, but as he turned he saw Iron-Man, who uses his repulsor to blast him in the face, sending him flying. Iron-Man cured the Avengers of the microbots, and Hulk threw M.O.D.O.K. around until Skull exploded the reactor and escaped with him back to the submarine, where Skull then sends messages to villains across the world to join his new team of villains to destroy the Avengers: the Cabal. Later, when Justin Hammer was interviewing Skull for the Cabal via hologram, he failed, but M.O.D.O.K. and Skull thought that his impressive suit, the Super-Adaptoid, would be useful, and merely needed a better pilot, so M.O.D.O.K. took it and formed an embodiment of himself in it. When M.O.D.O.K. found one of his important drives was missing, he told Skull, who said when he saw it was almost taken by SHIELD while guarded by A.I.M. he took himself. Warlord of Atlantis, Attuma, and Lord of Vampires, Dracula, join the Cabal with their forces. Skull's men, Crossbones and the Grim Reaper bring Iron-Man unconscious to the Cabal, and the Super-Adaptoid uses his powers and sees that Iron-Man has used some sort of mechanical border on his armour and takes him to his lab to break it. He manages to unseal it but finds the armour empty and warns Skull and Attuma, who unmask that Crossbones and Grim Reaper are actually Iron-Man and Cap in disguise. Skull, Super-Adaptoid and Attuma meet and Skull presents the Trident of Poseidon, which he plans to use against the Avengers. Iron-Man and Cap are found and captured, but when Skull uses the Trident it shatters the windows, causing the room to start flooding. The three start fighting over who should take the trident, and Super-Adaptoid takes it from Attuma but Cap throws his shield at his face, knocking him to the ground and disarming him of the trident. Cap then shatters the trident, but a large whirpool emerges. Iron-Man and Cap leave the submarine, who manage to evade the whirpool. Later, to see how the Avengers have beaten them all the time, M.O.D.O.K. hacks Iron-Man's A.I., JARVIS, where the Iron Skull looks at different strategies and declares he knows how to defeat Iron-Man. While dining, Attuma's disgusting eating habits annoy M.O.D.O.K., and they get into an argument with each other and Dracula. M.O.D.O.K. disintegrates a narwhal Attuma throws at Dracula, and Super-Adaptoid confronts Attuma. However, Skull walks in and uses a powerful blast which knocks them all down. Skull then explains his plan to take down the Avengers and rule the world, and they go in their submarine to Washington D.C. Super-Adaptoid uses his powers to grow Falcon's wings and shoot down two ships, but the Avengers attack and capture Skull while the rest of the Cabal retreat. The Cabal attack the Tri-Carrier to free Skull, and M.O.D.O.K. forms Cap's shield and hurls it at one guard before destroying another with lightning from a formed Mjolnir. The Cabal battle the Avengers, leaving M.O.D.O.K., Super-Adaptoid, Falcon, Widow and Hawkeye in a sealed room. Super Adaptoid uses Iron-Man's repulsor blast to force them to take shelter, and M.O.D.O.K. takes control the ship and fires the laser blasts on them. Super-Adaptoid lifts a piece of rubble, revealing Hawkeye, who throws a smoke grenade at him before Widow kicks Super-Adaptoid to the floor, causing him to drop the rubble on himself. The Super-Adaptoid lifts himself up but Falcon hurls several red spikes into him, allowing Hawkeye to knock him down with an explosive arrow, defeating him. However, M.O.D.O.K. reaches the panel which controls the platform Cap is bounded unconscious in and causes it to fall. The Avengers are forced to leave the villains and unite to save Cap, while the Cabal leave back to their base where Skull introduces their newest member: Hyperion. Due to Doctor Doom constantly interfering in Skull's plans and rejecting his offer, the Cabal attack the UN Headquarters where the Avengers guard Doom as he gives his speech. Cap and Doom escape to the sewers but Super-Adaptoid blasts in and fires repulsor rays at Cap, who deflects them with his shield. Doom jumps over Cap and uses a wire to electrocute Super-Adaptoid, until he recovers and uses lightning bols from two Mjolnirs to blast doom into the wall. Super-Adaptoid then ferociously smashes Cap's shield to the ground with his weapon but Hulk barges in and punches him, sending him flying. Super-Adaptoid attempts to stand back but Hulk lifts him into the air and smashes his head into rock, before repeatedly punching him. Hulk takes Super-Adaptoid back to the surface and throws him down in front of Iron Skull, who is battling Cap and Doom. As the rest of the Cabal and Avengers arrive, Hulk punches Super-Adaptoid into the air. Cap attempts to an escape with a weakened Doom, but Super-Adaptoid charges after them until Thor blasts him into the sky with his hammer. Defeated, Super-Adaptoid teleports the Cabal away. The Cabal lure the Avengers in a trap by sending them a fake signal of the Tesseract, a cosmic energy power cube, and Super-Adaptoid ambushes the Quinjet. He flies towards their ship and fires missiles at it before using his white Falcon wings to sever it in half. However, the Quinjet rams into Super-Adaptoid and crashes into Skull's ship, sending M.O.D.O.K. backwards. As Super-Adaptoid lifts Skull's ship back up, Iron-Man blasts M.O.D.O.K. away but the Cabal and the Avengers are separated, save for M.O.D.O.K., Widow and Hawkeye, who stay in the remains of the ship. Widow kicks M.O.D.O.K. into the wall, and Hawkeye narrowly misses him with an arrow. Meanwhile, Iron-Man chases Super-Adaptoid across the sky and Super-Adaptoid blasts Iron-Man stumbling down into a wall. Iron-Man manages to fire an armada of missiles into Super-Adaptoid but he merely dodges it and skids across the water. The Cabal switch their foes in teleportation, and Super-Adaptoid emerges with Falcon and flies after him while M.O.D.O.K. is taken to Thor. Thor uses lightning on M.O.D.O.K. but it makes no difference to him, and M.O.D.O.K. overpowers Thor with his rays. Thor is forced of the cliff and Super-Adaptoid uses spikes to send Falcon into the floor, knocking him unconscious. All of the Cabal take all of the defeated Avengers to Skull, who has found the Tesseract. He then uses missiles to cause a distraction for the Avengers before the Cabal fly away, victorious. Sometime later, M.O.D.O.K., Hyperion and Attuma enter a portal and arrive at their base but the Avengers attack. M.O.D.O.K. conjures an army of Attuma's Atlanteans before Cap throws his shield at M.O.D.O.K., sending him spiralling away. The Avengers are distracted when Falcon is mortally wounded and the Cabal and their forces leave. Super-Adaptoid leads a battalion of A.I.M guards and attacks Justin Hammer's building, where they start start stealing his technology when the Avengers arrive. Hawkeye fires three arrows at Super-Adaptoid, he catches two of them but the third slams him into the door. He then flies into the air and uses his powers to create a large robot. Widow manages to destroy it but Super-Adaptoid and his forces escape through a portal. At the Cabal's new base, Skull builds a powerful machine powered by the Tesseract to aid the Cabal but the Quinjet flies in and they fight the Avengers. Super-Adaptoid fires two missiles at Hawkeye and Widow on a bridge but they dodge it and it strikes Attuma. Skull completes a machine, and it conjures portals to different realms. M.O.D.O.K. and Super-Adaptoid are given the ultimate realm: Asgard, and they begin marching with their A.I.M. guards. Thor, raging and furious, flies in and beheads the Super-Adaptoid with one stroke of his hammer, destroying it. As reinforcements, Iron-Man flies in with all of his armours and shows whoever steps into the portals would die, and Skull reveals his true motives, to use the Cabal to distract the Avengers, then dispose of them and rule the galaxy. As a result, he unleashed the full power of his machine on himself, turning him into the all-powerful Cosmic Skull and teleporting away. As the machine explodes, M.O.D.O.K. teleports the Cabal(and inadvertently the Avengers) to safety, landing up at Avengers Tower. The two teams fight for one last time, and Widow jumps on top of M.O.D.O.K. and accidentally teleports the two of them to the Tricarrier, where she convinces him to work with her. They return to Avengers Tower, and the Avengers and Cabal unite to fight Skull. Iron-Man and M.O.D.O.K. reboot Skull's system, forcing the Tesseract out of him and turning him back to the weak, normal Skull. Skull summons portals to kill M.O.D.O.K. and the others, but Thor sends him and the Tesseract flying through one into unknown space. M.O.D.O.K. and the Cabal leave through a portal and disband. A few months later, when Ultron began a campaign to destroy humanity, M.O.D.O.K. has A.I.M. guards steal Ant-Man's Pym Particles, and he later uses them to grow large. He is confronted by the only Avengers left, Iron-Man, Thor, Hawkeye and Ant-Man(who have been shrunk). He throws a car at Hawkeye, who uses his ant to narrowly avoid it. He then chases after Hawkeye, who continuously fires explosive arrows at him. M.O.D.O.K. unleashes a powerful surge of energy before attempting to slap Ant-Man out of the sky as he wrecks havoc on the amusement park. He flings Iron-Man away and continues ripping pieces of the amusements park into the air. Thor leads a squadron of ants which momentarily overwhelms M.O.D.O.K. before he brushes them off. M.O.D.O.K. prepares to squish Thor but Iron-Man and Hawkeye, having flown into his brain, dissect the Pym Particles, causing him to shrink back to normal, much to his anger. The Avengers then call M.O.D.O.K., who take him into custody. M.O.D.O.K. was one of the many people from many realms across time and space to be transported to Battleworld by The Beyonder, and joined a team working for him also consisting of Absorbing Man, Ares and Crimson Widow. On his orders, they attacked the temporary base of the Avengers. M.O.D.O.K. sent blasts at Cap, who deflected one and dodged the other. Iron-Man dodged M.O.D.O.K.'s blast and tried to use his laser, but it failed and M.O.D.O.K. blasted him backwards. The fight was taken outside, and M.O.D.O.K. knocked Cap unconscious with his lasers. Iron-Man was also knocked out and they took them both to the Beyonder. As they awaken, the Beyonder takes Iron-Man away while Cap battles them, throwing M.O.D.O.K. away with his shield. They chase Cap, who knocks Absorbing Man onto M.O.D.O.K. and rescues Iron-Man. Led by the Beyonder, M.O.D.O.K. confronts his old nemesis one more time and they blast each other. Cap kicks M.O.D.O.K. backwards before escaping with Iron-Man, and for his failure, the Beyonder threw him and the whole team(save for Ares) far away, finally defeating him. When Loki and Dr. Strange activate Bifrost and the Beyonder is killed, everyone is teleported back to their realms, and M.O.D.O.K. is restored to Earth.
