~ Mad Dog explaining his attraction to honorable duels.

Mad Dog is the secondary antagonist of the 2011 film The Raid, the first installment in The Raid film series.

In his characterisation, he is a bloodthirsty gangster and the right-hand man of his notorious drug lord Tama Riyadi who plays a large role in the latter's criminal operation via drug manufacturing as well as renting out rooms to criminals. Unlike most of Tama's henchmen, however, Mad Dog specifically prefers to use melee combat against his enemies due to being an uncontrollable yet powerful combatant and ruthless fighter.

He is portrayed by Yayan Ruhian.

Biography[]

Little is known of Mad Dog's past other than that he has "torn down walls" for his boss, Tama. Doni, a high ranking criminal in Tama's syndicate work together to ensure Tama's grip on power.

A secret police force led by Lieutenant Wahyu and Jaka of the Jakarta police force is dispatched to find and kill Tama. But Tama is waiting and massacres most of the men. Mad Dog is hidden for most of the film, seen only waiting in Tama's room. But when Rama, a surviving rookie cop who kills many of Tama's men is running about, Mad Dog is dispatched to kill him.

Personality[]

While not much is known about Mad Dog, what is known is he is a sociopathic, cunning, and sadistic enforcer for Tama, with an almost animal-like ferocity and speed that makes him difficult to anticipate, much less defeat. He has a taste for hand to hand combat, and seeks to fight his enemies on fair grounds, while it would be more convenient to just kill them and have it done with. His intensity, ferocity, and speed make him a difficult enemy to defeat, as mentioned earlier, and it took Rama and Andi to defeat him by working together in order to finally stop him.

At the end of the day, Mad Dog is an adrenaline junkie, who loves the thrill of combat and will fight anyone that comes across him.
