Mad Molak is a brutal and pivotal figure in Dead by Daylight’s Chapter 34: Doomed Course, though he’s not a playable Killer—he’s the catalyst behind Portia Maye’s transformation into The Houndmaster.
Biography[]
Mad Molak was a feared pirate warlord who ruled the cursed waters near the Caribbean settlement of Fortune. Known for his ruthless tactics and bloodsport rituals, Molak commanded a fleet of raiders who thrived on chaos and cruelty. His most infamous act was the assault on the merchant ship Nightsdream, captained by the father of Portia Maye.
Molak’s attack was swift and brutal. Survivors were forced into gladiatorial combat for the amusement of Molak and his crew, with wagers placed on who would live. His son, Tariq, was particularly vicious—torturing Portia’s father when he refused to fight. Molak kept Portia alive, intending to use her knowledge of celestial navigation to infiltrate Fortune’s defenses and burn the town to the ground.
But Portia turned the tables. She led Molak’s ship into the cursed region known as Dragon’s Tooth, a Bleed between realms said to touch the Entity’s domain. As a storm of supernatural fury descended, Molak abandoned Portia to the fog. His ship fled the storm, leaving her to perish.
Portia survived—reborn in the Entity’s realm as The Houndmaster, with her loyal dog Snug at her side. Molak’s betrayal became the emotional crucible that forged her monstrous identity. Though Molak himself was never taken by the Entity, his legacy haunts the fog as the origin of one of its most emotionally complex Killers.
