“ | Soon the lightning will commence, soon I shall bring my creation to LIFE! | „ |
~ The Mad Scientist preparing the creation of his monster, his famous quote. |
Dr. Victor Frankenstein (also known as Dr. Frankenstein or simply the Mad Scientist) is a minor antagonist in the Garfield franchise, serving as the overarching antagonist of the episode "From the Oven" of the French-American 3D animated series The Garfield Show.
As his name suggests, he represents the archetypal mad scientist personified and wishes to create the famous Frankenstein's monster and bring him back to life, he's also Igor's master. His experiment in creating his monster was the catalyst for Jon Arbuckle's culinary mistake for Odie's birthday cake, which gave birth to the Birthday Cake Monster who serves as the main antagonist of this episode.
He's voiced by Frank Welker.
Appearance[]
The Mad Scientist is a thin man wearing gray-beige pants, black shoes, he is bald with a crown of hair behind his head and has a pointed nose, he wears a white blouse containing a tie and he wears black gloves.
When he appears in the horror movie watched by Garfield and Odie, he is in black and white.
Personnality[]
As his name suggests, the mad scientist is completely crazy and unhinged who cackles in a psychiatric manner. He is very manipulative towards Jon instead of listening to Eddie Gourmand's cooking show where he teaches him how to do a scientific experiment to create his monster, which led to the birth of the Birthday Cake Monster.
Unlike the antagonists of the animated series The Garfield's Show, the scientist never appeared and never physically met Jon, Garfield and Odie as he is more of a fictional antagonist than a real antagonist.
Biography[]
On a stormy night, Garfield and Odie (showing fear) watch an old horror movie, seeing the mad scientist who begins his creation on his monster and cackling like a madman and announces that a lightning bolt will burst to give life to his creation. While he laughs, Igor gives him a vial and the mad scientist drinks from it, he blows his head off and he continues to laugh non-stop.
When Jon accidentally puts his sugar box on the remote, forcing him to change the channel, showing him that the scientist puts a dose of vinegar on Odie's cake, then sodium chloride and gelsenium, which leads Jon to do scientific experiments on his cake that he is preparing.
Then the mad scientist adds hydrofluoric ammonium, making the recipe seem increasingly strange to Jon until Jon changes the channel to Eddie Gourmand's cooking show.
After doing his experiment, the mad scientist waits for the power of lightning to bring his creature to life until he sneers evilly and announces the concentration of the sky's energy until his creature awakens and he comes to life, which triggers the birth of the Birthday Cake Monster which Jon created by mistake.
Trivia[]
- His appearance can be confused with Dr. Mo, another mad scientist archetype that only appears in fiction, except he is more of an evil genius than a mad scientist.
- Although he did not appear in the animated series, the Mad Scientist is more of a fictional antagonist than a real antagonist.
