| ~ Madame Viper to Captain America. |
Ophelia Sarkissian, also known as Madame Viper, is a major antagonist in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. She is primarily associated with the terrorist organization HYDRA and later the Serpent Society.
She was voiced by Vanessa Marshall, who also voiced Wonder Woman in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Giganta in Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Ursa in Young Justice, Killer Frost in Young Justice: Legacy, Hela in Avengers Assemble, Vertigo in Wolverine and the X-Men, Queen Bee in Ben 10, Rook Kast in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sarah Kerrigan in Heroes of the Storm, Olga Gurlukovich in Metal Gear Solid and Sheeva in Mortal Kombat 11.
Biography[]
Madame Viper serves as one of Baron Strucker's top lieutenants in HYDRA's operations. She was at some point replaced with a Skrull impostor, which was killed by Mockingbird, alerting Nick Fury to the Skrull secret invasion when her body reverted to its true form post-mortem. The real Madame Viper is later found to be a prisoner on a Skrull warship. She is freed by Captain America, and the two form a temporary, uneasy alliance to escape along with King Cobra, Mocking Bird, Clay Quartermaine, A.I.M. scientist, and Henry Gyrich and fight the Skrulls. Although she saves Captain America from Super-Skrull, Viper explicitly states that once the threat is over, they will be enemies again.
After the Skrull invasion is thwarted, Viper (along with King Cobra) is being transported to the superhuman prison facility "42" in the Negative Zone after being captured by S.H.I.E.L.D.. The transport convoy, which Captain America and Hawkeye are escorting, is ambushed by the rest of the Serpent Society (including Anaconda, Constrictor, Rattler, Bushmaster, and Death Adder) in a bid to free their leader.
During the subsequent battle in the New York subway tunnels, Viper demands her release and directs her team's efforts against Captain America and the newly-arrived Spider-Man, all while civilians are caught in the crossfire. After successfully escaping Captain America and Spider-Man with the rest of the Serpent Society during the chaos of a collapsing subway tunnel, Viper and her team disappear into the sewers, leaving the heroes and civilians trapped until the Avengers come to the rescue and save them. Viper's fate after escaping the subway is left ambiguous. While the rest of the Serpent Society is later shown to have been captured by Yellowjacket (Hank Pym), Viper is notably absent during their apprehension, and no specific mention of her final capture, death, or imprisonment is made.
Appearance[]
Madame Viper is a beautiful, tall, slender woman with long dark green hair that dramatically covers the scarred right side of her face and green eyes. She typically wears a form-fitting, sleeveless green unitard, made of a durable, form-fitting fabric (implied to be Kevlar or a similar material) that offers protection in combat.
Personality[]
Madame Viper is a ruthless, cunning individual with a profound sense of nihilism and hatred stemming from a traumatic past. Her personality is heavily influenced by an incident resulting in her facial scar, which is implied to be the source of her hatred for "people like Captain America" and despises the societal structures the heroes try to protect. Though she works within organizations like HYDRA and the Serpent Society, she consistently seeks to take control and use their resources for her own ends, demonstrating that she operates with supreme self-interest.
She has a unique code regarding debts, especially to enemies. When temporarily allied with Captain America during their escape from the Skrulls, she still wants to kill him, but chooses to rescue him by waking up Sue Storm to shield him and got him on the ship before it took off. Also, she made a point of saying that she'll work with him until the Skrulls are defeated and not a second longer. She demonstrates a lack of empathy and a willingness to endanger innocent people to achieve her goals, like when she ordered the Serpent Society to attack civilians to cover her escape.
Abilities[]
She is a brilliant tactician, master of espionage, and highly skilled in various forms of combat and is armed with various ray pistols, poison-tipped darts, and daggers.
