Madison Murphy, known as Badison, is the secondary antagonist in season six of Orange is the New Black, and a minor antagonist in season seven.
She is an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary's Maximum Security prison, and Carol Denning's muscle and henchman. She has much influence on Denning's C-Block girls.
She was portrayed by Amanda Fuller, who also portrayed The First Evil in Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
Personality[]
Badison is an immature inmate who seeks to cause trouble to assert her self-perceived dominance in the prison. She is most likely deeply insecure after being bullied in most institutions in her life. She has been shown to be incredibly short-fused and violent. She is also playful in her speech and enjoys word play. She is rude and sarcastic.
Physical appearance[]
When younger, Badison had dyed green hair in space buns. In prison, she continued to dye her hair blonde and had noticeable roots. She had a round face and was in C-Block, meaning her uniform was dark blue.

Background[]
It is known Badison has Irish heritage. She also speaks with a Boston accent, so it is possible she lived in the Boston area before prison. Badison was a social outcast at school and frequently bullied. This caused her to have many aggressive and violent outbursts such as throwing a beaker across a science lab, breaking windows, or throwing a book at her mother.
Badison was sent to a delinquent camp called "Changing Winds", where she attempted to appear tough in front of the other delinquents. She told her campmates everyone at school called her 'Badison', which nobody believed. This leads to Badison being mocked, as well as another girl, Roach.
Whilst hiking on the camp, Roach asks Badison for water, which she begrudgingly offers her water bottle. Laura, one of the campmates that mocks Badison, runs past and smacks the water bottle out of Badison's hand, emptying it. Jessie, another girl that mocks Badison, offers her canteen to her. Badison takes it, but discovers it is filled with sand. Badison is told by a camp leader to stop making herself such an easy target.
Trying to reassert her tough image as before, Badison and Roach agree to mess with them whilst they are in their tents at night. Badison changes her mind last minute and sprays aerosol at Roach, saying "watch me spray a roach!". The aerosol goes over the campfire, which severely burns Roach whilst Badison looks on horrified. However, this earns Badison Jessie and Laura's respect. It is likely this led to Badison being a trouble-maker in prison to get respect. It is unknown if the burn accident was what got Badison in prison.
Orange is the New Black[]
Badison is Red's new roommate in gen-pop after the rioters are moved from minimum to maximum security. Her and Red immediately butt heads, but when she learns Red and her family were involved in Desi Piscatella's death, she helps get the message around. When Red and her family are being questioned about Piscatella's death, Badison tells Red that her family will throw her under the bus to get avoid or get a shorter sentence. This ends up being true after Nicky and Frieda do exactly that.
After being moved back to C-Block, she becomes Piper Chapman's new roommate. Piper tells Badison she believes her girlfriend, Alex, is dead. Badison reacts with limited sympathy. Badison tells Carol Denning that her enemy from the eighties Frieda Berlin has returned to maximum security. When Alex and Piper are reunited, Badison tells her follower Akers to request a room change so that Alex can replace Akers and be next door to Piper. Akers is hesitant, saying that she likes being next to Badison. Badison cracks down on Akers. That evening, Badison instructs Nicole Eckelcamp to terrify her for being disobedient. Nicole begins to suffocate Akers and tells Akers that "when Badison asks you to do something, zero seconds until you say yes."
Badison's attitude begins to worsen towards Piper after this. She 'pranks' Piper by pushing cheese up her nose whilst sleeping, causing Piper to start choking. Badison claims this is a joke for Mischief Night. Badison then extorts Piper for organising the room change, despite never raising this before and it seeming an offer of good-will.
Alex then confronts Badison and asks her to stop tormenting Piper. Alex explains to Badison that CO Luschek is the most trustworthy for contraband smuggling. As the tensions between C and D-Block intensify, D-Block pranks Badison by leaving rats in their workplace. As revenge, Badison instructs her team to defecate on their laundry. Piper refuses, leading Badison to threaten her and anyone else that chooses to refuse.
Furious at this, Annalisa Damiva threatens Badison. Badison then punches Damiva, but gets shivved in the back by Tina Swope. Badison eventually returns from medical and forces Alex to get closer with Carol. Badison then threatens Gloria Mendoza for trying to get Luschek away from Badison.
With kickball practice returning, and a perfect opportunity for Carol to get close to D-Block, Badison uses the time to be childish and get the ball stuck in the roof after bouncing it too hard. She self-elects herself as captain of the kickball team. However, when it is put to vote, the majority vote for Piper. Taking this personally, Badison begins to torment Piper and the girls again. Badison breaks Alana Dwight's nose in an attempt to trip her up.
When Badison learns that Piper will be released in a few months, Badison decides to get her sentence extended. She tells Piper this, who begs her not to to little avail. Badison plants drugs in Piper's shoe hoping it will be found in the next sweep, but this doesn't happen. Badison then begs Greg Hellman to do an incident report in exchange for a blowjob from Shruti Chambal and Charlene Teng. Unbeknownst to Madison, Alex and Carol agree if Alex starts working for Carol, she will protect Piper's release date.
On the day of the expected block war, plans go slightly awry after the teams get mixed up. Badison cues the start of the fight. However, everyone sees that they are enjoying the game too much and abandon the war whilst Carol and Barb kill each other.
In the seventh season, Badison is moved in with Taystee after Piper is released. Taystee finds Badison's phone and tells Badison to confess. Badison discovers that Taystee's appeal has been rejected. Badison uses this information to mock Taystee and push her buttons. Taystee respods by grabbing Badison's head and smashing it against the wall, getting both Taystee and Badison sent to solitary confinement.
Warden Ward shuts down solitary confinement, releasing Badison. Badison then begs CO Hellman to get Vause transferred. Taystee overhears this and asks what they are talking about, to which Badison says little. Badison tells CO Hellman that her and Taystee are fine now, calling her her "Taystee girl", a phrase often used by Yvonne Parker. Enraged by the memory of Vee, Taystee begins to violently attack Badison. In light of her behaviour, Badison is transferred to a prison in Missouri.
