Maggie is the main protagonist of the 2008 horror one-shot comic book Friday the 13th: Abuser and the Abused by Joshua Hale Fialkov.

She is a teenage high school girl in the town of Crystal Lake suffering from perpetual physical and psychological abuse. Maggie endures constant brutal beatings from her boyfriend during his intoxicated flares, bullying at school, negligence from her father, and emotional abuse from her stepmother. The day after she gets a black eye caused by an assault from her boyfriend, Maggie is inspired to take matters into her own hands by seeking out Jason Voorhees, the mysterious Crystal Lake urban legend.

Biography[]

Past[]

Residing in the small town of Crystal Lake, New Jersey, Maggie, an abused teenage girl, has never been the same since her mother's passing. The passing of her biological mother caused her life to go into a downward spiral, prompting her to start inflicting acts of self-harm. She would eventually enter into a relationship with a man named Steve, an abusive, alcoholic jock.

Friday the 13th: Abuser and the Abused[]

Maggie gets severely beaten by Steve while at a rest area. Recalling this particular attack on her, she narrates that this is the 23rd time he has attacked her. He smacks her to the ground and starts beating her. She makes a self-promise that this will be the last time he ever abuses her.

Maggie wears sunglasses to school the following morning to conceal the black eye she received from her boyfriend's assault the previous night. She approaches her locker and opens it to check her reflection. Removing her sunglasses, Maggie looks at herself in the mirror, drawing the interest of three nearby girls in the hallway. Being surrounded by the trio of girls, they ridicule her wound before leaving, aggravating Maggie to the point that she punches and shatters the mirror.

After school, Maggie states to herself that nobody understands her situation. In an effort to receive the help she needs, Maggie goes to meet with a school counselor, who dismisses her claims of abuse as attention-seeking behavior. The counselor recommends she see a psychologist, but similarly to the counselor, the psychologist is unable to assist Maggie due to her not wanting to open up to him. The psychologist then advises her to see a priest. Following the psychologist's advice, Maggie meets with a priest who remarks that she is seeking revenge, something he can not help her with, claiming that her anger antagonizes everyone around her. The priest concludes his talk with Maggie by revealing that her stepmother met with him not too long ago, persuading him that Maggie is solely responsible for her issues.

After meeting with the priest, Maggie decides to return home. Reaching her room, Maggie looks at a sign on her door that reads, "God helps those who help themselves." Perusing the text, she initiates a plan for revenge and is inspired to come up with an idea on how to solve her life troubles. Maggie calls Steve over the phone, waking him up and telling him she wants to "hang out." Finishing the phone call with her boyfriend, Maggie goes to conceal a large knife in her backpack, carefully examining it and preparing to carry out her plan. Consequently, Maggie fatally stabs her stepmother and father.

Having arrived at her house in his two-door muscle car, Maggie, wearing her backpack, climbs out from her bedroom window using bedsheet rope. Pretending to sneak out of the house to avoid raising suspicion, stating her parents are asleep, Maggie proceeds to enter Steve's car and gives him directions to Camp Crystal Lake, unbeknownst to him. As Steve is driving, he points out the blood on her, and Maggie casually responds with a cover-up. As Steve catches sight of the entrance sign, he becomes irritated after realizing Maggie gave him directions to Camp Crystal Lake, but she immediately charms him.

Arriving at their destination, Maggie exits Steve's vehicle and walks over to the lake, taking off her shirt to lure him. Hiding the knife behind her back, Maggie, now wearing a bra, tells Steve to make a move for her, but before he can do so, she stops him with a stab to the left abdomen, mocking him and perforating his torso and back. Maggie then strikes his face, knocking some of his teeth out. Preparing to deliver the final stab, Maggie states this is her payback. As Steve briefly gets the upper hand during the fight, he spots a huge, frightening machete-wielding figure: Jason Voorhees. Steadily approaching from behind Maggie, the pair terrifyingly glance up to see Jason standing over them. Having her target suddenly and unexpectedly killed by him, Maggie stabs Jason in the shoulder out of frustration. Unfazed by the attack, Jason backhands Maggie, causing her to retreat and retrieve her knife. Claiming she was merely defending herself, she lunged toward Jason with a surprise stab to the chest, causing him to drop his machete and fall to the ground. Noticing Jason's weapon free from his grasp, Maggie takes advantage of this opportunity by grabbing hold of the machete and stabbing him with it numerous times.

Believing she has killed Jason, Maggie staggers to Steve's car and enters the driver's seat. Unaware that Jason is still alive, Maggie is shocked to realize he has recovered as he grabs and lifts the back of the car. Flipping the car over, Jason foils her escape attempt. An injured Maggie looks out to see fuel leaking from the vehicle. Quickly thinking, Maggie reaches to grab a lighter and ignites the fuel, causing both of them to be thrown away by the car exploding.

Having survived the explosion, Maggie looks up to see Jason staring down at her and swiftly gets up on her feet, wounded. She tries to appeal to Jason by telling him of her painful, sorrowful life, claiming she lost her mother and comparing herself to him. Maggie continues her reasoning by saying that she was the only person to care for her mother and killed people in retaliation to avenge her. Maggie embraces Jason, presuming he understands her. While she has a hold of him in her arms, Jason, towering over her, raises his machete. "But we're the same... please..." she pleaded before being ultimately decapitated by Jason.
