The Magic Academy (魔法學院) are major antagonists in the Taiwanese animated series Brave Animated Series, based on the comic Brave Series (勇者系列) by Yellow Book. While outwardly appearing as a place of study and research, the Academy's true purpose under the ruthless command of Dean, Despair Brave, and Vice Dean, Black Magic Sword, are the development of advanced military hardware and the ruthless pursuit of power.
History[]
The Magic Academy is noted for possessing powerful magic, including a method for "resurrection" or rebirth. The institution's descent into villainy is tied to the Vice Dean's ambition. He exploited the desperation of the Librarian Witch to save the "Freak" (a powerful, analytic demon). The Vice Dean agreed to the Freak's resurrection solely to acquire and exploit its rare ability to process and analyze battle data.
The Magic Academy operates primarily as a clandestine weapons lab:
- The Blade Armor Corps: This is the Academy's chief military project—a highly advanced, magic-tech armored unit designed for mass combat and specialized to counter Fallen Mad Demon. The Vice Dean utilizes the Freak's analytic power to continuously update and perfect these units.
- Exploitation of the Freak: The "Freak" is forcibly kept in a state of library within a magical "dream" (created by the Librarian Witch) while its brain is constantly used as a "super-processor" to analyze battle data and inform the military's development.
- Deception: The Vice Dean maintains a deceptive relationship with allied groups, such as the Brave Guild, using "exchanges" as a cover for their true, power-hungry agenda.

- Despair Brave: The powerful Dean of the Magic Academy. As the highest-ranking Brave within the Academy, he heads the institution dedicated to military R&D. He is one of the premier Braves specifically mentioned by the King to prepare for the crucial assault on the Dragon clan and the Demon clan.
- Black Magic Sword: The current effective commander and Vice Dean of the Magic Academy. He oversees the unethical military research, including the creation of the Blade Armor Corps and the exploitation of the "Freak" through non-consensual experimentation.
- The Librarian Witch: A magical operative within the Magic Academy, who assists the Vice Dean's experiments, specifically the magical imprisonment of the "Freak".
