Magic Doubler (マジックダブラー Majikku Daburā) is a minor antagonist of Uchuu Keiji Gavan who appears in episode 29. He is an owl-like Doubler who disguised himself as a human magician named Paul Issei (ポール一星 Pōru Issei) where he challenged Tenko Hikita II for a magic duel to take over her magic show and became the most famous magician in Japan in order to spread the teachings of Makuu magic all around the world for Makuu's plans.
He was voiced by late Teiji Omiya, who also voiced Goat Monster in the same series, and Gori Beast, Kiba Beast and Bengel Tiger in Uchuu Keiji Sharivan. His human form was portrayed by Hirohisa Nakata, who also played as the human form of Burner Bat in Kamen Rider V3, the human form of Cyclops in Kamen Rider X, Great Emperor Zero in Kamen Rider Amazon, Dangamma in Symbol of Justice Condorman, Mason in Choudenshi Bioman, and Darkness Gang Boss in Kaiketsu Zubat.
Biography[]
A middle-aged man named Paul Issei barged in and interrupted Tenko Hikita II's magic show by showing the flowers on his magic wand, while claiming that her magic tricks are cheap. When Tenko argued him for this, he then challenged her for a magic duel by having her performing the most difficult magic trick of all, the human warp. Despite how challenging it could be, Tenko is ready to accept Issei's challenge without hesitation. It turns out that it was all part of Makuu's plan to spread the teachings of Makuu magic all around the world to brainwash everyone and have them all commit crimes whatever they want.
That night, Paul Issei/Magic Doubler attacked both Hikita's assistants, Sachio and Tokita, by making a clothing of tiger appears anywhere in front of them, which causing the latter to fall down and break his arm. As Sachio return back to his apartment room, the Doubler murdered him by controlling a dove into attacking him, making him fell down the balcony to death. The next day, Retsu became Hikita's assistant for a day to take the late Sachio's place, which was immediately discovered by Makuu and Issei plans to place an atomizer in the right box to kill Retsu while he's inside before he could be teleported into the left box.
The next morning, Issei snuck down to the underground basement to put the atomizer inside one of Hikita's boxes for her magic tricks. However, Retsu already discovered what Issei was planning, so he took the atomizer from one of Hikita's boxes and put it in one of Issei's boxes. During Tenko's magic performance, Issei was expected for Retsu to died from explosion once the atomizer will blew him up along with the right box, but Retsu managed to survived and teleported into the left box. During Paul's magic performance, the atomizer from the right box has blew up which set one of his assistants on fire, revealing him to be a Crusher in disguise. After Paul's magic performance has ruined, he then revealed his true form in front of Retsu and went to attack him in anger, even when Retsu transformed into Gavan. After they're dragged into Makuu Space, the Doubler used his magic tricks to attack Gavan before the latter had to call upon Gavion to back him up. After the fighters has destroyed, the Doubler attempt to hide from Gavan by transforming into a rock, but Gavan managed to found him with Laser Scope and then unleashed Gavan Shock on him. During a swordfight, Gavan finally destroyed Magic Doubler with Gavan Dynamic.
