The Magma Wyrms are minor antagonists and optional bosses in the 2022 game Elden Ring. They are quadrupedal dragon-like creatures that wield curved odd-looking and hard scale-covered greatswords, which act as their main weapon.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
The Magma Wyrms were originally humans who partook in Dragon Communion. Consequently, this sin caused them to be cursed into becoming magma wyrms. In their new form, the Magma Wyrms slowly lost their humanity, eventually becoming feral and aggressive monsters that crawl the land on their bellies, permanently being nothing more than a mere imitation of true dragons.
Elden Ring[]
Five Magma Wyrms can be encountered by the Tarnished throughout their journey as optional bosses, meaning none of them are required for the Tarnished to kill in order to advance through the main storyline. In combat, the Magma Wyrms can spew magma from their mouths to deal a lot of damage to the Tarnished. They can also spew magma onto their scaleswords, coating them with fire.
Magma Wyrm Makar can be found guarding the Ruin-Strewn Precipice in Liurnia of the Lakes. He will drop his Scalesword when slain.
A Magma Wyrm can be found in Mt. Gelmir, in a lava pool near Fort Laiedd. Defeating it will allow the Tarnished to sell a Dragon Heart at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion for the Magma Breath spell.
Another Magma Wyrm can be found at the end of the Gael Tunnel. It will drop the Moonviel katana when defeated.
Great Wyrm Theodorix, who used to be an ancient Troll warrior who partook in the war against the Giants, can be found at the eastern end of the frozen river in the Consecrated Snowfield. Defeating it will allow the Tarnished to sell two Dragon Hearts at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion for Theodrix's Magma.
The only Magma Wyrm who appears as a non-boss can be found in the lowest part of Volcano Manor.
