Maize, formerly known as Maize Machines, are the main antagonists of the alternate history analog horror series THE MONUMENT MYTHOS, the first installment in franchise of the same name. Being a technological company near the turn of a decade, they quickly rose to power through the use of The Horned Serpent.
They attempt to control anomalies within their universe to great failure, but gain great control of world technology.
Biography[]
Maize Machines and Their Rise to Power[]
Maize Machines was founded by Rob Careers and Rob Watroba in 1960, and would quickly begin overtaking the technological market, growing across America in only eleven years, in a suspiciously snakelike pattern with the manufacturing plant locations, enslaving The Horned Serpent and using its anomalous electrical potential to manufacture technology.
They were also aided in growth by President James Dean. He would go on to establish the Department of Technology in 1969, allocating billions of tax dollars to technological development through major technological corporations. A year later, Maize Machines, now known as simply Maize, would go on to create the first personal video camera and home computer.
ADA Siren Hack and James "Satan" Dean[]
In May of 1969, the ADA hijacked a James Dean broadcast to dub him as Satan himself, and he declares this through an air siren sound. Then, all air sirens in the U.S. went off at once with higher than operating volume. This caused thousands of deaths and millions in the country to go deaf. Maize would collaborate with the Department of Health to install millions of hearing aids dubbed "Maize Kernels". To increase the speed of the surgeries, they built surgery androids to make efficiency go up 250%, and about one year after the event, they effectively cured deafness.
Project Horned Serpent[]
In 1972, Maize collaborated with the Department of Defense to create countermeasures to the True Forces of Mass Destruction (TFMD) using The Horned Serpent.
Freedom's Fall[]
In January of 1977, the ADA launched an attack on the capitol that knocked the Statue of Freedom off of the top of the capitol. After the event, many organizations attempted to purchase the statue, but all offers were denied. This was because of the Department of the Interior's decision to relocate the statue to The Grand Canyon. This was reported in the New Delaware Journal, the successor to the defunct organization Delaware Double, both ran by Leonard W. Morlin. A reporter named Howard Melrose would reveal the true reason of the relocation in a leaked proprietary Maize file ST-FR 4.3099 to the public, revealing Freedom was used to kill ADA members, as well as Maya Arnoldson, due to her actions in revealing The Horned Serpent. It was also mentioned that she needed to protect "Maize assets". These assets are likely other anomalies kept at The Grand Canyon, such as the Canyon Crowns and the Giza Guardians.
The Unification of 1980 and Total Recalls[]
During an attempt of awakening The Horned Serpent to fracture the U.S.A, several Special Trees erect from the earth and cause massive damage to the Maize corporation. Somehow, computers are correlated with expanding the damage the serpent causes, so they are recalled and destroyed under claims of an outbreak, excusing the 4th Amendment in the process. The repossession of this technology was complete in 1990, where the last computer is destroyed live on TV.
Maize Movie Maker and the Arnoldsons[]
In the early 2000s, Maize introduced a new technology that would allow for the editing and uploading of videos, called the Maize Movie Maker. A brother and sister, Maya and Nathaniel Arnoldson, would go on to use this program to create a video about entering a Maize site, and warning about how they have not been fed in years. Before they entered the site, they would put anti-Maize and anti-government phrases on the wall of the buildings. When they reach their destination when entering the site, they encounter the head of The Horned Serpent. Maize would confiscate the video and classify it, only for it to be leaked, likely by the ADA.
Maize in the 21st Century[]
Maize, now with much more control over world technology, also have complete control of the news and cellular communication, through the Maize News Network (MNN) and T-Machines and the main application on it, TWTTR. They would go as far to distort text on T-Machines that weren't designed for a certain language, making translating the text impossible, controlling international social media. They report on things such as the Suez Canal Crab and The Starry Sphinx.

- The logo of the company for Maize is a pun, double entendre, and a homonym at the same time, both meaning maize (another word "corn") and the maze that takes shape within the corn.
- TWTTR is an obvious reference to the social media site Twitter.
- Instead of the first computer saying "Hello, World!" like in our universe, Maize has their first computer say "Ahoy-hoy!".
- This would mean that Alexander Graham Bell's infamous greeting for the telephones he created would catch more popularity than simply saying "Hello?".
- The last computer would say "Toodle-oo.".
- Maize exists with Ed Dwight's world as a counterpart to Marvel Comics, with Stan Lee being their head writer, and sharing a friendly rivalry with Dwight Comics.
