Majtani is a minor antagonist in the Hunter x Hunter series, serving as a minor antagonist in Hunter Exams arc. He's a prisoner of the Trick Tower who was sentenced to 108 years for fraud and blackmailing and was one of the many opponents fought by Gon and his group during the Hunter Exam. Despite his strong and intimidating appearance, Majtani is actually a coward whose tactics rely on scaring opponents into believing he's way more dangerous and stronger than he actually is, with this eventually backfiring when he fought Kurapika.
He's voiced by Kazuki Yao in the 2011 anime (who also portrayed Jango in One Piece, Taurus Harbinger in Saint Seiya, Doctor Z in Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger, Hades Ultimate God Drake in Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Debo Nagareboshi in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger and Totema in Kamen Sentai Gorider, Ouga in GoGo Sentai Boukenger) and by Bill Rogers in the english dub (who also voiced Groribas in One Punch Man and the Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in Cells at Work!). In the 1999 anime, he was voiced by Hidenobu Kiuchi (who also voiced Nero in One Piece and Wingul in Tales of Xillia) adn by Randy Brososky in the english dub.
Appearance[]
Majtani is a very muscular monstrous looking man with blue skin and a almost Frankenstein like appearance, who wears Brown shorts. He has a Phantom Troupe tattoo on his back which is meant for his fraudulent activity to scare off others.
Personality[]
Majtani is a fraudster and coward, faking things to bring dread to other people. He is afraid of death himself as shown when he immediately reveals himself to be conscious to admit defeat after Leorio attempts to plunge his "unconscious" body (in truth, playing dead) off the arena.
History[]
He was sentenced to 108 years in prison for crimes of numerous counts of fraud and blackmail.
Majtani later serves as one of the tests on Trick Tower alongside his fellow inmates. He would be facing Kurapika. Much to Leorio's concern that they're gonna deal with serial killers, Majtani began showing how he enjoyed violence and blooshed. However, his opponent was unfazed by his claims, Majtani began proposing them to fight to the death, warning him that admitting defeat won't stop him from continuing his murderous desires.
The two began fighting unarmed, and the spectators noted that he is not much of a threat considering his fraudster background until Majtani began to leap from the air to perform a punch from above, surprising everyone as his punch left the stone floor of the arena damaged. Majtani's back reveals that he has a spider tattoo which both Kurapika and Leorio realized to belong from the infamous Phantom Troupe. He reveals that he uses his modified fist and the Spiders tattoo to destroy the morale of his opponents.
As he believes that his opponent is dazed by his attacks, Kurapika's eyes turned scarlet red and suddenly delivers a powerful punch to against his head, smashing him against the ground which rendered him unconscious, telling him that the Phantom Troupe has numbers on their tattoo and never keeps a tally of their victims, threatening to kill him should he mention the Phantom Troupe again.
The group determine that Majtani is unconscious checking on his vital signs and decides to wait until he regains consciousness. Majtani was actually playing dead all along later on, knowing that his sentence will be shortened if he feigns unconsciousness. As they wager as what to do with the supposedly unconscious prisoner, Leorio then devised a plan by making him fall off the arena, causing Majtani to admit defeat out of fear, labelling them as "crazies".
