Villain Overview

Sweet Ramona came to meet me for dance, we were falling under a summer spell. Oh such a vision spinning graceful as an angel, she didn't move too bad herself. She looked parched and so I went to get some water, and they said chivalry was dead. But that's when Mr. Spritzer swooped in and tried to pinch her, and chased her down the shoreline with his friends!
~ Mako singing while deliberately but falsely accusing the land crabs for what happened to Ramona.
Your friend, Armen,... HE'S DEAD!
~ Mako telling Bobby and his friends that Armen is "dead".

Mako is the main antagonist of the 2023 computer-animated musical feature film, Under The Boardwalk. He is an arrogant sea crab who was Ramona’s ex-fiancé and Armen's arch-nemesis, and Bobby's arch-rival.

Appearance[]

TBA.

Personality[]

Mako is a spoiled, rich crab with a passion for playing tennis and bullying land crabs.

Biography[]

Background[]

While most of Mako's past is completely unknown, Mako was raised by Camille and an unknown father under the ocean growing up. During his childhood, he would meet Ramona, Val's daughter, in which the two would then interact and have fun with each other before becoming affianced.

Sometime before the events of the film, Mako would then attend an unknown prep school which was mentioned according to his mother, during her argument with him over being upset of Ramona being with Armen.

Under The Boardwalk[]

At a resort, Mako is playing tennis with his friends: Nigel and Chauncey at the pool until his mother, Camille calls him to meet her old friend, Val before meeting the latter's daughters: Ramona (with whom he used to play with when they were kids) and Shelly. While getting sprayed with a spritzer by Armen, Mako asks Ramona out on a date at a club tonight, which she accepts despite Armen's previous attempt to ask her first due to falling in love with her at first sight earlier.

The land crabs get evicted as a result and Armen frustratedly takes his leave. As he is sulking by the seashore, Mako and his goons came to hassle him and steal his shell. Ramona intervenes, but she and Armen get swept away in a high tide that ruins the land crab civilization.

Mako lied of how Armen tried to steal Ramona way from him. Bobby begins to have his doubts about his tendency to use physical force against his enemies and soon encounters Ramona's deaf sister Shelly looking for Ramona. However, as he walks her home, Val sends him away and when he tries to break up a fight between his friends and Mako's gang, he accidentally rips off Mako's right arm. Mako vows revenge and claims that Armen is dead, giving back Armen's shell and a traumatized Anemone as "proof". The land crabs then declare war.

As both hermit crab species throw down their weapons while wondering how they got here to begin with, Val reveals that Mako lied, but Camille doubts it and asks Mako to tell everyone the truth. Humiliated now that everyone knows he’s the reason that Armen and Ramona were stranded away in the first place, Mako stutters until he finally blurts out that he saw Ramona and had her first. Angered, Camille takes away her son's trident and leaves with Mako trying to apologize and make up.

Then, Mako is forced by his mother to apologize to the land crabs (specifically Bobby) for his actions, which he does along with his friends by giving out a new shell to Bobby for a start.
