Appearance[]
Shishio had black hair in a high ponytail and fair complexion of his skin along with red eyes. After being burned, Shishio's skin turned brown from the flames, so he now wears bandages all over to hide his deformed skin and to ease the pain. Parts of his remained hair stick out of his head bandages and wears a half purple robe with his right side exposed.
Personality[]
Shishio is a social Darwinist with the ideology that the strong survive while the weak die. He displays no mercy or remorse towards any of his victims or enemies as he sees that it will display weakness and go against his belief of who should live or die. Shishio is extremely ruthless, sadistic, and power-hungry as he finds immense pleasure in killing his enemies and gaining power for himself especially as he explains to Kenshin "power belongs to the strong, it belongs to me alone, taking over this country is my right by natural law" which reveals his truly twisted views on life and his narcissistic pursuit of gaining power for himself.
Despite his vicious nature, he's not heartless as he loves Yumi who reciprocates these feelings even after he was burned. Shishio managed to form closeness with some of his most trusted allies, but some others, he just sees them as tools and pawns to further his goals seeing as he didn't care what happened to Sojiro as long as he could weaken Kenshin. On top of that, Shishio will even stay with Yumo in death as when he goes to hell, he plans to take it over as well, continuing to see his version of a utopia justifying the means.
Shishio also displays a great skill of manipulation as he deceives Usui and Aoshi by playing into their weaknesses to bend them to his will and blindly follow him. Unlike most villains, Shishio learns from his mistakes and executes his plans very carefully to ensure his victory over the Meiji government. Shishio is also very crafty as he is extremely intelligent and attempts to always looks at things in a more reasonable way, so his plans don't fall apart. In the end, Shishio truly represents as an evil man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants and will continue even in death as a criminal mastermind.
