~ The Makron to Bitterman. |
The Makron is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the Nexus) of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and the main antagonist of Quake 2.
He was the supreme leader who was elected by the Nexus to lead the Strogg to conquer planets to assimilate species and harvest materials for Stroyent to survive. He then participates in leading the Strogg defense to protect Stroggos from humanity.
Biography[]
Past[]
The Makron was a member of a system of Strogg Warlords who are known for controlling the Strogg civilization and leading the Strogg by commanding and controlling them with strategy. Due to his impressive leadership and tactical advantages, he was elected by the Nexus to become the supreme leader of the Strogg to conquer planets. Under the Makron's leadership, the Strogg have found many planets that were soon conquered, each of their race assimilated and materials used to produce Stroyent to be processed for their survival. When the Strogg have discovered the next planet, Earth, the Makron orchestrated a planet-wide invasion, sparking a new war for humanity, the War Against the Strogg.
He comes to the attention that despite their superior tactics, humanity has shown a great resistance to defend their homeworld from the invaders which the invasion lasts for two years. After two years, the Makron temporarily calls off the invasion as the Strogg retreat from Earth as it was reduced into a wasteland and plotted their return to conquer for its wealth and resources. As the Makron plots a strategy for their return, humanity responds with the TMC leading for a preparation of the invasion of Stroggos to assissinate him and destroy the Nexus.
Quake 2[]
When the TMC's GDF forces take the lead of the invasion in their fleet and arrived to Stroggos, the Makron assembled the Strogg counter-fleet to keep the humans away from entering the planet and the GDF send an infiltration team with Bitterman as a member of the team. The Makron is aware of the stealth team and had the defense shoot at the pods, destroying some of the soldiers and captured a majority of the survivors to be assimilated through Stroggification, turning them into more Strogg and added to their numbers. Having been avoided capture by the Makron's forces, Bitterman manage to fought his way through the Strogg and accomplished the first three steps of Operation: Alien Overlord, having established a communications uplink, destroying the Big Gun and disabling the interplanetary gateway, leaving the final objective to remain.
Bitterman enters the Palace City where he chases after the Makron all the way to an asteroid arena which has been a set-up to use the Jorg to battle against the pursuing assassin. Bitterman destroys the Jorg, having the Makron making the decision to fight him personally. After the fight between the duo, the Makron was killed exploding and reduced into a couple of extremites but posthumously had the base to self-destruct in a final attempt to avenge himself to kill his assassin posthumously. This attempt failed when Bitterman found an escape pod and escapes but his escape pod gets destroyed and crashes back on Stroggos, leaving him still stuck on the planet with his fate currently unknown.
Trivia[]
- His codename as the Strogg leader means "big thing" in Greek and gender neutral.
- Unlike the other bosses in Quake 2, he is the only who did not explode entirely. Instead, he leaves behind both his upper and lower extremites upon his death.
