The Alderson Family[]
Philip Alderson Sr. (42 Years Old)
> A work-determined person. Works as a finance director for a global logistics company. His job is almost everything for him that he spends a lot of hours working. Having an evasive behavior; deceitful or two-faced guy (on Neal's words).
Katherine Alderson (37 Years Old)
> Housewife, suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder; from what caused this, Philip Sr. coming home, finding the home "a mess" (in his words). In fact, she really fears her husband.
Malachai Alderson (12 Years Old)
> No clear information about him, but he is the eldest son. Smart and clever as his brother and sister, having a skill of drawing sketches pretty well.
Katy Alderson (8 Years Old)
> An intelligent girl, respectful and polite, nothing really affected her behaviors despite her parents' "destructive behaviors".
Philip Alderson Jr. (6 Years Old)
> The youngest son. Sudden-behavior changing, having weak relationships between his father. Moreover, Philip Jr. had a friend that was coming by every period; discontinued by the father as a complete nonsense.
The Story[]
Since malachai's disappearance, the neighborhood rumor was that he had died and become a ghost since he went missing for so long. His pure anger managed to possess a doll from beyond. The doll was bought by Phillip Sr; as a birthday present for Philip Jr. and was soon named Malachai. The peculiar doll seemed innocent at the time, despite his creepy smile. Once the doll was fully possessed, Malachai became a vengeful killer inside the doll. Soon after, Neal, a detective was sent to work on the case of the missing Alderson family, since nobody knew what really happened to them. Neal (the player) visited the empty house to find clues and figure out what happened to the rest of the family. As he investigated the house, he would heard noises and evil laughter, hinting that the doll was indeed alive. Neal finds more clues through the night. These clues range from scraps of paper with drawings to chuckles of laughter from the doll itself, hiding in the shadows. Towards the end of the night, Neal finds a paper with the pin from the safe in the parents room.
If Neal takes too much time to find clues, Malachai will attack Neal, killing Neal and forcing the player start the night over again.
At the basement located in the laundry room, Neal manages to decipher the puzzles and clues that were randomly found there. Accessing the lower level of the basement, Neal finds a room that was likely to be for small storage; filled with pictures and photos explaining Malachai's vengeful reactions towards the family, what he noticed and expected of what they’re doing; spying on him via security cameras.
Somewhat, Neal finds a human skeleton under a hanged bench; it was discovered to be Malachai's body, decayed. Neal finds pictures of Malachai describing shameful feelings to what he faced from his family; drawn a creepy face of himself (which was used in his clues), excessive use of blaming phrases and etc... Neal also found a picture on the skeleton's arms; of Katherine hugging a baby. It was likely to be Malachai. From all of a sudden, the possessed doll, teleports to Malachai’s bone arms as if he was hugging the doll.
Neal finds out another room that was found out to be the room that Malachai - the possessed doll - led the family to the cellar; kidnapped, panicked. There were no comments explaining what happened. It was all clear. After rescuing the family, Philips Sr. and Katherine were then taken to prison, with a life sentence in prison for what they committed to Malachai, the innocent kid.

There is not a defined reason for why the family did this to Malachai, but a remark was added in the notes of Neal's, is that Philips Sr. and Katherine were somewhat aggressive, as some declarations: Philips comes home saying the house is a "mess", in his words. In addition to Philips Jr.'s "sudden-behaviors" also found in the notes.
This explains something mutual in the family, which is "Perfectionism"; meant by looking always for the best adjectives and excluding criticisms or problems and issues which sometimes improves the member. A proof for this also is if you count the number of family, you would find they're 4; 2 parents and 2 kids. The 3rd was excluded for the purpose of equalising. On starting to play the game, you would've noticed the black screen with a quote that says "Perfection is a figment of human imagination.". The quote is somewhat represented in an (ingratitude form), showing hate for what the family did to reach this point of perfectionism, and is not meant to encourage the player to try beat the game.
Malachai wanted to be just like other kids, where a mother and a father shows love to their kid and vice versa, but that didn't happen. The feeling of being hand-cuffed and trapped by a family, being forgotten and not considered, is hurtful; especially for a child, that he thought himself in a terrible way he drew himself a demonic figure; used in his clues. That's why, Malachai had to revenge. Either with arresting the parents, or Malachai's knife talks; could be costing Neal's life then, tho.
