Biography[]
Mald was one of many chosen by King Aultcray to join the Four Cardinal Heroes as their party members. Mald chose to be part of Itsuki's party. For most of the first part of the series, Mald made full appearances, just joining the background of Itsuki's team. However, in the anime, after the defeat of Pope Balmus, Mald was shown getting drunk at the party. Here he went on a tirade about how inferior the Demi-Humans were and that the Shield Hero was the weakest of all. This earned Raphtailia's anger, leading to a fight. Despite being held down by several people. Mald continued his drunken rant, claiming Itsuki was the best hero of all.
After the events of the Cal Mira arc, Mald, like the rest of his party, was upset that Rishia, who they treated as nothing more as a servant girl, was praised by the Queen for being the key player in defeating Glass and her group. They decided to get rid of Rishia by framing her for breaking one of Itsuki's favorite accessories. Rishia was kicked out immediately. Because of this, Rishia attempted to drown herself which failed due to being saved by Filo.
Upon being given intense training, Itsuki, Ren, and Motoyasu had finally had enough of the Queen's treatment and decided to quit. She agreed if the heroes would look into the rumors of a powerful beast nearing the boarder. The opponent was none other than the Spirt Tortoise, one of the four guardian beasts that defended the world from the waves in the past using the souls of those presently living. The three heroes led their parties, Mald included, to face this beast. However, the fight was disastrous, with Ren's party killed, the three Cardinal Heroes captured, leaving the remaining party members to abandon their friends.
While Naofumi and his group dealt with Kyo, the mastermind behind the Spirit Tortoise attack, Mald and Malty began to go to work. The two captured Itsuki, who was now under the influence of Curse Series, Pride, claiming they needed money to bring about justice. To do this, Itsuki fought in the Coliseum of the country of Zeltoble, winning many fights. In actuality, Mald and Malty were using Itsuki's earning for whatever they wanted for. After Itsuki was defeated, she left with her group, leaving Itsuki with tremendous debt.
Malty's group went missing for some time, only to reappear as an ally to Hidemasa Miyaji, a member of the Vanguards of the Wave, and a resident of Glass's World, who faced Naofumi's team. Since last seeing Itsuki, Mald took the Vassal Axe from the village of Tact Arusahorun Faubley, aka the Whip Hero. Impressed by what Mald could do, Miyaji attempted to greet Mald, only for Mald to kill him. He faced Itsuki and Naofumi, only to be defeated. Before the killing blow was delivered, Mald was taken away by S'yne's Sister, another member of the Vanguards. Mald was not heard from again.
