Biography[]
Malefic was close to his brother J'onn growing up and was born with the unique power to control the minds of others which caused his father M'yrnn to lock him away for his own safety. Malefic became embittered of his family during his isolation believing that they hated him due to his inability to connect with the Martian hive mind and sided with the Whit Martians to exterminate his own race for rejecting him. He was sent to the Phantom Zone for his betrayal while all memory of him was erased from the Martians' collective consciousness.
Following the death of Lex Luthor and the defeat of Agent Liberty, Malefic was freed from the Phantom Zone and brought to Earth by Mar Novu to test J'onn J'onzz.
After stealing a Kryptonian ship from a museum, Malefic builds a Phantom Zone projector and uses it to release an alien known as Midnight. After Midnight is defeat by Supergirl and J'onn J'onzz, Malefic appears before his brother and reveals their relation which J'onn later realizes to be true. Malefic later tricks Kelly Olson into revitalizing his suppressed mind control powers and engages J'onn in battle, but escapes once again. He is seemingly sent back to the Phantom Zone after taking control of Alex Danvers, but is actually transported to Lena Luthor's lab where she is able to duplicate his mental inception powers.
J'onn later discovers that Malefic is being held prisoner and the two brothers reconcile after sharing each other's thoughts. Malefic then helps Supergirl and the D.E.O. prevent Lena from unleashing Myriad onto the Earth by using his own personal kinetic energy against Lena's machine, stopping her from mind-controlling the rest of the planet. After defeating Rama Khan, J'onn encourages Malefic to return to Mars and put an end to the war between the Green and the White Martians. Malefic thanks J'onn and leaves Earth using his brother's old spaceship (disguised as a car).
