~ Malva |
Malva is minor antagonist in the video games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y and the secondary antagonist of Pokémon Adventures X and Y. Malva is a news reporter, a self-proclaimed Holo Caster star, and the Fire-type using member of Kalos' Elite Four. She is also a former member of Team Flare, where she seems to be at least Admin-ranked, and rigorously defends their actions. She has a bad temper and expresses hatred for Calem/Serena, talking down on the defeat of Team Flare, and even threatening to kill him/her.
In Japanese, she was voiced by Akeno Watanabe in both the anime and in the Mega Evolution specials, Marina Inoue in Pokémon Generations, and Atsumi Tanezaki in Pokémon Evolutions. In English, she was voiced by Samara Nayemi in both the anime and in the Mega Evolution specials, Kira Buckland in Pokémon Generations, and Marissa Lenti (who also voices Sister Jill in Cutie Honey Universe, Sadi in One Piece, and Joanna Greenleaf in RWBY) in Pokémon Evolutions.
Biography[]
Pokémon X/Pokémon Y[]
Malva is first seen announcing a news bulletin at the Poké Ball Factory, discussing Team Flare's invasion of the factory without giving away their names.
After the player character defeats the Elite Four, Malva forces the player to fight her at the hotel in Lumiose City. Once she is defeated, she reveals that she had left Team Flare because she disagreed with Xerosic about creating the Expansion Suit and its use on a child. Malva agrees to help and then directs the player to where Xerosic is hiding so he can be turned in.
Despite Malva's involvement with Team Flare, there is no indication that Diantha or the other Elite Four members were aware that she was a member.
Pokémon Masters[]
Malva makes her first appearance in Pokémon Masters within the Kalos-themed chapter of the game's second story arc. In her first appearance, Malva works as a double agent for both Looker and Team Flare, informing Malva of her group's activity during a peace ceremony's performance held by Diantha. However, said showcase was interrupted by Team Flare grunts acting on their own accord, much to Malva's annoyance. After the event is resolved, Malva's personal followers receive an order from their commander to explain the current situation, Malva requesting they further monitor the agents of these rogue Team Flare members. Meeting up with Looker to discuss the matter formally, she rebukes his acquisitions of treachery by explaining why he called for his aid in the first place: to arrest those she sees as causing trouble within her organization. While Looker denies the idea of acting Team Flare's actions, Malva also brings up knowledge of these figures attempting to steal weaponry for their own gain (Team Flare keeping this as a form of "insurance" for Lysandre), something that causes the detective to do his own investigation into the matter instead. Not deterred, Malva has her agents intercept a pair of chaos-causing grunts within the town square, shaking off their disguises in order to scare them off. While the two are in pursuit of these unruly members, Malva appears to blackmail Looker into helping, warning of the potential of escalation to their conflict. Malva also reveals to the detective of her spies throughout Pasio, ready to spring when given the command. This second attempt to twist Looker into helping succeeds, albeit not without some grumbling on the gumshoe's end. While Malva's role in the second part of the chapter is noticeably smaller, she still plays a role in coordinating efforts with her boss, discussing the ample punishment for the rogue Team Flare members (who are revealed to be acting on Team Rocket's behalf) up to Lysandre. After this, Malva joins forces with Lysandre to defeat some of Team Rocket's remaining grunts.
