I'm through with tuliza, and this whole forest! There's just one thing I want now. I want to get... that... BUNGA!
~ Mama Binturong swearing revenge.

Mama Binturong is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Makucha) in the third and final season of The Lion Guard.

She is an elderly binturong (also known as a bearcat) who acts like a mafia boss and uses her group of porcupines to make other animals comply with her desires. She later joins Makucha's army to reach the Tree of Life and get revenge on the Lion Guard, especially Bunga after he used his stink to ruin all of her tuliza.

She was voiced by Rachel House, who also played Topaz in Thor: Ragnarok and the Malgosha in A Minecraft Movie.

Appearance[]

Mama Binturong has a white fur on her breast and a black pelt on her body, tail, and head. Her paws are a dark black color, and her ears are silver and white with fuzzy hair. Her eyes are a mix of gray and golden. In addition, she has white whiskers and a mole on her face.

Personality[]

Yes. Everyone's scared of Mama Binturong. She's so mean, nobody even wants to say Tuliza, in case it makes her mad. She's very mean when she's mad.
~ Seisou describing Mama Binturong.

Mama Binturong acts like a mob boss who uses her mob of porcupines as enforcers to ensure that the other animals fulfill her needs. She cares for her porcupines as if they were her children, though this is only to make sure that they stay loyal to her. She has a tendency to gather food and steal it from other animals, thus giving her a negative reputation. Almost everyone in the forest tries to avoid getting into trouble with her because she sends her porcupines to hurt them with their quills when she gets mad.

She is considerably intelligent and creates plans that work in her favor. She can figure out the weaknesses of both the Lion Guard and the Night Pride by spying on them and ordering Makucha's army to attack at sunrise more often due to the Night Pride being tired from finishing their patrol. Unfortunately for her, this strategy stops being effective when Kion and the Lion Guard patrol the Tree of Life during the day so that the Night Pride can rest.

She has a huge obsession with Tuliza and will go to any length to ensure that she gets some, including hurting other animals. When Bunga uses his stink to ruin her pile of Tuliza, she loses her desire for Tuliza and instead begins to pursue the honey badger in revenge. She is also power hungry, laughing about the Tree of Life belonging to her and Makucha's army when they take it over.

History[]

Mama Binturong first appears in the Season 3 episode, "Mama Binturong" where she resides in a forest accompanied by her loyal porcupines. When the Lion Guard enter this forest on their way to the Tree of Life, they find out that its inhabitants get really scared when they mention the word "Tuliza". Smun, one of her most loyal porcupines, tells her about the Lion Guard and their interest in Tuliza. Mama Binturong sends her porcupines to steal Makini's Bakora Staff which contains the Tuliza that they have been using to treat Kion after he was scarred by Ushari. After finding out where Mama Binturong's hideout in the Stone Forest is, the Guard go to find Mama Binturong so they can retrieve the staff, but only Bunga is able to navigate the Stone Forest and find Makini's staff atop a huge pile of Tuliza.

Once Bunga confronts Mama Binturong, she sends her porcupines to deal with him, but the honey badger effortlessly defeats them due to his thick fur before facing Mama Binturong herself. Unable to best her in combat, Bunga begins eating her Tuliza, much to her anger. Bunga reclaims the staff and then uses his stink to ruin Mama Binturong's pile of Tuliza before making his escape. Once the honey badger is gone, Mama Binturong is enraged and decides that she is through with Tuliza and now wants revenge on Bunga.

Mama Binturong appears again in "The River of Patience" where she encounters Makucha and his group who have been driven away from the Tree of Life by the Night Pride. When Makucha asks her who she is, she tell him that she is their new leader.

In "Little Old Ginterbong", Mama Binturong pretends to be an injured animal called "Granny Ginterbong" so that the Night Pride can welcome her to the Tree of Life. Upon seeing Bunga playing with Binga, she tries to exact her revenge on him, but the two honey badgers use their stink to fend her off.

In "Long Live the Queen", Mama Binturong is assisting Makucha and his group in attacking Varya and her cubs at the Mountain Pass, only for both the Lion Guard and the Night Pride to chase them away. As they leave, Mama Binturong tells them that they won't be so lucky next time.

In "Triumph of the Roar", Mama Binturong attempts to attack the Tree of Life along with Makucha and his group, only for the Lion Guard to fend them off. After being driven off by Bunga's stink, Mama Binturong reveals that she has ordered Smun and his prickle to recruit Makucha's leap and Ora's bank to assist then in conquering the Tree of Life. Mama Binturong then grabs Ullu and places her under guard by her porcupines so that the Night Pride cannot be alerted before trapping the Night Pride (minus Rani) and Makini in the Tree of Life, allowing Makucha's army to pursue the animals. Luckily, Kion arrives with his newly-mastered Roar of the Elders that he uses to create twisters for the Guard to ride on and summon lightning to destroy the boulder that was imprisoning the Night Pride and Makini. With Makucha's army weakened, Kion summons a larger twister that sucks up Makucha and the rest of his followers, with Mama Binturong being the last one. Before she is sucked up by the tornado, Mama Binturong claims that she's just a harmless binturong who wants to go home, but to no avail, she is blown far away from the Tree of Life. It’s unknown what happened to her and the others after being blown away.
