|“||Fear me, I am the first and I am the last. I am alive for evermore, and have the keys of Hell and death.||„|
|~ Hell's Bible, Book of Eurebius 4:23.|
Mammon was the wayward son of Lucifer and the secondary antagonist of both the 2005 action-horror film Constantine which was based on the Vertigo comic book series Hellblazer, and the film's videogame adaption with the same name.
Mammon was conceived and born in Hell. For centuries, he yearned for the day that he would have his own kingdom. Mammon even impatiently waited while he grew sick of living in his father's shadow. But like Satan, his own son was clearly sadistic as him, as Mammon enjoyed torturing the miserable souls of the fallen and forced people to do things that they normally never did: he chose the lesser of two evils.
When he chose that the day had come, Mammon began with possessing a homeless Mexican man named Manuel who discovered the fabled Spear of Destiny. Meanwhile, he then haunted and tormented Isabel Dodson, who had a psychic ability to see angels and demons who lived among mankind as half-breeds, before she killed herself. But her new imprisonment in hell was just the beginning of Mammon's plan.
Mammon then tried to enter Earth through Isabel's sister, Angela, as she possessed the same powers. Angela was taken from her protector, Constantine, by an invisible entity to the mental hospital where Isabel was interned. The invisible entity then murdered Constantine's apprentice, Chas, and Constantine forced the entity to show itself, which revealed itself as Archangel Gabriel who told Constantine his plan of letting the Hell enter through Angela by use of the Spear of Destiny, Gabriel then tried to free Mammon, but Constantine summoned Lucifer by suicide. Constantine then told Lucifer his son's plans and Lucifer, in anger, punished Mammon for backstabbing by sending him back to Hell and burned Gabriel's wings who was also punished by God for his betrayal to God and all of creation by turning Gabriel human.
