~ Manami Anzai

Manami Anzai is the main antagonist of the Keiko Suenobu's 2002 Japanese manga Life and one of the two main antagonists (along with Katsumi Sako) of its 2007 Fuji TV adaptation of the same name. Personality[]

Manami Anzai is a cheerful and friendly demeanor, so called school idol. But on the inside, she has a sadistic side that likes to bully others and ruin relationships. At first, she tried to get close to Ayumu, and she made a fake suicide attempt to win Ayumu's heart. And the reason why he decided to become friends with Ayumu is because she thinks that she was the type that Ayumu was comfortable playing with.

She only sees her friends as her pawns. She initially bullied Ayumu because of her feelings for her love for Katsumi, but in fact she did not love Katsumi, and later took advantage of her friends, including Katsumi, and the people around her to deceive and run around. . This is also reflected in her attitude towards Midori Iwamoto, who can be called her Right-Hand, where Midori tried to protect her truly, but Manami saw even her as a fool of hers, which eventually led to Midori's betrayal.

She is actually a lonely person even at home. She always feels lonely and alone inside, and desperately wants someone to take care of her. However, she has a personality that resolves that desire by bullying anyone she doesn't like even a little bit.

Manami is charismatic, manipulative, charming, deceptive, and cunning. She knows how to win the hearts of her students, she uses her charisma to bully students who seem weaker than her, and Manami is sadistic but cheats on friendships and sometimes fakes love to get what she wants. She is also famous for her charisma, which garnered many followers. Trivia[]

  • Her biographies are similar to manga and drama, but the ending is a little different. In the 2002 manga, working in her juvenile detention center gives her a complete redemption of her faulty life, but in her 2007 drama, she feels her regrets for her own mistakes and eventually she becomes the next target for her bullying. Either way, she felt her regrets the same. This also applies to Katsumi Sako, as while the drama version Katsumi Sako is completely irredeemable with nothing preventing that, the manga version of Katsumi Sako is still portrayed as tragic and sympathetic, and shows insecurities.
